When this drama first made the rounds, it was supposed to be a vehicle for Yang Yang, and female leads who were touted were Victoria Song and Zhao Lu Si among others.

Zhao Lu Si was then announced as the female lead but suddenly Yang Yang is out of the picture. This is such a shame because Yang Yang and Lu Si would have had a perfect symbiotic situation in terms of their respective careers.

Yang Yang would have gained vibrancy, youth, and vigour which seemed sadly lacking in his last few dramas. While the well established Yang Yang could have given Lu Si credibility as a rising actress.

But it is not the end of the world. Zhang Bin Bin, my favourite, or Song Wei Long could still rule the world of this wuxia.

2 February 2021: Update: Apparently it is very likely that Yang Yang is after all the male lead. Yehey!!! And that the cast will be officially announced tomorrow at Hengdian. Exciting!

3 February 2021: The booting ceremony was held today but Yang Yang was no show because he was apparently in Shanghai and would likely remain there to celebrate Chinese New Year. I hope he is not being a diva because he was allegedly forced to accept this drama. Due to this kind of rumour, Yang Yang’s more vociferous fans have started attacking the innocent Lu Si. They should realised that Yang Yang might need Lu Si more than she needs him.

7 June 2021: A trailer of this drama was released during the 10th Tencent Anniversary. It has the making of a blockbuster. Yang Yang, definitely should do more historical dramas. He is impossibly gorgeous. His visual with LuSi was out of this world. This for sure the drama to look forward to for next year.

Episode 1

G O R G E O U S

This drama is worth the wait, I watched the first 8 available episodes in one sitting and I ended up wanting more. It is an easy story to follow, very well scripted.

The cinematography is so good, that you could tell it is a high-budget drama. I suggest watch this drama on a big screen, the bigger the better rather than on your mobile phone or laptop.

If you had not seen the ‘behind the scene’ of the making of this drama, you would think that all the fight scenes could only be done by CGI because they are breathtakingly good.

But I saw Yang Yang and Lusi constantly tied to the rope and being flung into the heavens to create the glorious action scenes. They did really work for their money.

Zhao Lusi is very watchable and charismatic. I am very impressed with her posture, very confident for such a young woman. Her usually very bubbly personality is well restrained.

And Yang Yang of course is being the gorgeous Yang Yang as ever. He should do more historical dramas because he is breathtaking in hanfu.

The story started with the missing Empyrean Token.

Apparently, their world was divided into seven factions/nations where the Dadong Empire currently rules over the six nations. Dadong controls them through the symbol of the Empyrean token.

But then the token had gone missing.

And whoever gets the token will become the ruler as the token is holding the world.

The loss of the token immediately got around to the different leaders of the 6 nations:

The leaders of the 6 nations are Lord of Qingzhou, Lord of Beizhou, Lord of Shangzhou, Lord of Jizhou, Lord of Youzhou, and Lord of Yongzhou.

There are two exemplary bickering martial artists well known in the world. they were Hei Feng Xi and Bai Feng Xi.

Hei Feng Xi is the leader of Fountain Abode, which is the forerunner of MSS (Ministry of State Security), the Chinese CIA. Hei Feng Xi has another persona. He is the second prince, the son of the Lord of Yongzhou.

Bai Feng Xi is well known for being beautiful but lethal, lethal in the sense that she is on par with Hei Feng Xi.

One month after the loss of the Empyrean Token…

Yan Yingzhou and his soldiers were ambushed at Mount Xuan by men looking like bats in their black umbrella-like gliders.

Unfortunately, Yan Yingzhou was the only one left alive after the batmen attacked the soldiers.

The batmen were circling around Yinzhou, who was putting up a good fight despite being heavily wounded when someone high up on top of a tree complained that they had woken her up from her gorgeous dream where the Queen of the Mountain of the West was about to give her a Divine Peach.

The batmen asked who she was but then they had the answer when she unravel her lethal ribbon.

She was Bai Feng Xi and she wanted compensation for being disturbed.

The batmen were determined to get Yan Yingzhou for some reason so, with her ribbon, Bai Feng Xi (BFX) grabbed Yingzhou up and took him away into a hidden cave.

He Kai Lang as Yan Yingzhou had a minute role but he was so charismatic. He Kai Lang breathe mystic and brooding sexuality to Yan Yingzhou that perhaps Bai Feng Xi saw it so she protected him.🤗

Nope, that is only in my head because Bai Feng Xi said that she actually learned of Yan Yingzhou about three years ago when he stayed and protected immigrants despite getting into trouble for it. In her heart, Yan Yingzhou was a hero and she was returning the favour on behalf of the refugees.

As Yan Yingzhou was heavily wounded, Bai Feng Xi told him that she had to get the Buddha Pill that cures all ailments from Mr. Han, the master pharmacist. She gave him a temporary relief that would last for a day while she was gone.

Bai Feng Xi gatecrashed the 60th birthday celebration of Mr Han, who went apoplectic when he saw her because she had been stealing his medicines in the past and it looked like she was about to do so again.

She joined the drinking and started eating chicken hungrily and this was how Hei Feng Xi found her.

He said that he was beginning to think that her sobriquet of being ‘beautiful but lethal’ was overrated. He thought that she was so uncouth.

Bai Feng Xi could not care less about what he thought of her. They had been arch-rivals for the longest time at the same time whenever she was in trouble, he was there to help. It then became well known that wherever Bai Feng Xi was Hei Feng Xi is not far behind.

Just like now. He told Mr Han that he will pay everything that BFX owed him and what she needed now.

With the Buddha Pills, BFX returned to the mountain cave but found Yingzhou gone.

She looked for him and found him near a river hiding from his pursuers. She gave him the Buddha pills.

He took only a few and made BFX shallow some as well because BFX got hit by their pursuers. He took her to a cave. Yingzhou then went out to make himself a decoy so BFX can be safe at the cave.

It turned out that Yingzhou was being hunted because he has the Empyrean Token which he gave to BFX to pass to Huang Chao, the Prince of Ji.

Hei Feng Xi found BFX and looked after her until she was well enough.

He told her that the toxin in her body was not completely gone.

Meanwhile, Huang Chao learned of what happened to Yingzhou and he got very upset as Yingzhou had been an important member of his retinue.

Episode 2

General LIfeng /Yan Yingzhou was dead.

Hei Feng Xi believes in the end justifies the means which is in direct contrast to what Bai Feng Xi believes in. After all Hei Feng Xi is the black Foxy and Bai Feng Xi is the White Cloud.

Hei Feng Xi told BFX that she needs the Buddha pill to completely remove the toxin from her system.

As bad luck would have it, the Han mansion was burnt down and the whole family massacred except for the young Han who HFX and BFX found hiding in a secret room with a book of prescriptions.

HFX told BFX that if she spread the news that she had found Han Pu and the prescription book, she will be able to smoke out the perpetrators but this might put her in danger.

Taking this into consideration, BFX had it rumoured that it was HFX who found Han Pu and the prescription book.

HFX carriage was ambushed by the sickle attackers called the Soultakers. Of course, HFX won over them in no time. He found a silver token with Shang insignia. HFX could not help admiring BFX for her lateral thinking.

HFX went to see BFX and Han Pu. HFX reminded BFX to take the Buddha pill now that she has the recipe to make it herself.

BFX was different from HFX in that she is very upright and as Han Pu was still indisposed, she was waiting for him to give permission to make the Buddha pill.

HFX traveled with HFX and Han Pu. HFX admired BFX’s way of pouring tea and offered her a job there and then to become his maidservant.

She dismissed him immediately. They got talking about HFX being friendless and never had someone he liked in his life.

He did say to BFX that there was someone better than her. She was Xiyun of Qingzhou.

Of course, we know that Xiyun of Qingzhou is the other persona of BFX.

BFX said that HFX seemed never met Xiyun.

HFX said that he had when Xiyun was ten years old. They were both young and met at the perron of the Eighth Pagoda in Dadong. HFX went on about Xiyun being a very accomplished woman even from a young age. She had written countless poems which proved popular with scholars and the masses.

What HFX learned about BFX is that she loves her food.

HFX and BFX ended up in Yucheng following the trail of the Soultakers.

Episode 3

Hei Feng Xi and Bai Feng Xi headed to Yucheng and met up with the Qi Family who told them where they could find his rival, Patriarch Shang.

It was in the brothel. To get into Patriarch Shang’s up close and personal, HFX made BFX dress in a red dancer costume and gyrate in front of Patriarch Shang.

HFX did not expect to be seduced by a feminine-looking BFX but he did get seduced because the minx teased him.

BFX was gorgeous and graceful. In no time, Patriarch Shang was singing like a canary and telling her all his secrets including his affiliation with Soultaker Sect.

BFX and HFX did let him get away so he could lead them to the hideout of the Soultaker Sect.

While flying together, HFX could not help checking BFX in her diaphanous red outfit.🤗

They arrived at the Soultaker Sect HQ and were immediately surrounded by the fighters using Octo Ghost Soul formation.

They defeated the men but the mastermind got away. HFX found a handkerchief with embroidery on it of a locust and cricket which brought out the romantic HFX.

He remarked to BFX that the symbol was almost like them. When she asked what is he talking about, he immediately changed the subject.

Shang Ha, the patriarch escaped by burning his house to the ground and went.

BFX and HFX were going on their separate ways but not in an amicable way. But before they parted, they took each a bird from a fallen nest.

In the mountains, young Han Pu was running away from BFX because he made the ashes from the fire they were roasting fish go all over her face.

Han Pu run into the tip of Sekong’s sword. BFX was there to stop it.

BFX then started fighting with Huang Chao, she was impressed that he was as good and handsome as HFX.

Huang Chao said that he did not expect to fight with a high caliber like her just like someone he knew.

When she asked who that someone was, he said Yu Wuyuan.

Meanwhile, Yu Wuyuan was in Luocheng trying to stop a war instigated by Shang Ha.

Episode 4

Huang Chao was very intrigued with BFX. He said he had not heard of her mentioned alongside the renowned female fighters BFX, Princess Xiyuan, and Qi Cheng Nian. He had never heard of Miss Han, thinking that she must be the sister of Han Pu, who introduced himself.

Anyway, Huang Chao fed them and as a thank you, BFX gave him the Empyrean Token but she told him that Black Fox (HFX) said it was a fake.

Huang Chao told Sekong as they watch BFX and Han Pu depart that she was BFX after all. He did not expect the incomparable beauty to be the oddest woman in the world.

At last, they reached Tianshuang Sect. BFX had a happy reunion with the master. It was so cute, it made me nostalgic for A Female Student Arrives in the Imperial College. The master was her father in the Imperial College.

BFX found out from the Master that Soultaker Sect had its origin from the mysterious Locust & Cricket Sect. They are the pest of the world and must be annihilated.

Prince Ju was forcing his way into Lanxi’s Villa but was prevented by Maid Huan.

Then enters Prince Chang who beat up Maid Huan which shocked Prince Ju.

This was a part of the plot so Prince Ju won’t insist anymore to see Lanxi face to face.

Episode 5

Prince Ju instigated his father to make an impromptu visit to the Hot Spring Palace to see Lanxi after suspecting that Lanxi will not be there.

Everyone was surprised to find Lanxi in the palace.

The king told him to pack up as he would be going back to the Capital with him and to prepare for the hunt.

Chancellor Ren was rather perturbed that Lanxi had been spending so much time with Bai Feng Xi. So introduced the idea to Lanxi about getting married as he is now of marriageable age. The Chancellor said that Feng Qi Wu is an upstanding woman, powerful, and also holds the position of Minister of civil rights.

Meanwhile, Master Bai of the Tianshuang Sect ordered BFX to gather their best fighters as they will be going down the mountains to help out the other sect to combat the Soultaker Sect.

Despite being far away from each other, BFX and HFX seemed to share the same train of thoughts. They both came up with the same conclusion of which sect/family the Soultaker would attack next.

It was the day of the hunt. Feng Qi Wu realised that she had three princes to choose from for a husband. The eldest Prince Chang she thinks is ruthless. The third prince, Prince Ju, is ambitious and a mama’s boy while the Second Prince, Prince Lanxi, is one of the four gentries with a good pedigree but very sickly, weak, and fussy, which Feng Qi Wu said was the kind of man she hates the most.

She immediately changed her mind when she was surrounded by wolves with no way of escaping. She was plucked from the middle of the baying wolves by Prince Lanxi.

Episode 6

This episode is rather special for the glorious fighting scenes. LuSi is gorgeous and athletic as BFX.

Anyway, the episode started with the awarding of the winner of the hunt.

As can be expected from the viewer’s vantage point, there can only be one winner and it was of course the seemingly weak Prince Lan Xi.

So the king was relieved that the prize to the winner of his Cloud Cutter Sword belt would remain within the Royal Family as it almost went to Feng Qi Wu.

Ren Chuan was curious why Lanxi had to pretend to be weak so he asked Maid Huan.

Maid Huan recounted the history.

Lanxi’s mother was the Princess Yige of Dodong, sister of Emperor Chunxi. She was so lovely with easy-going manner. She was so easygoing, that she even allowed her groom to take a concubine on the day of their wedding.

The concubine was Bai Li who was the mother of Prince Chang.

Yige willingly and lovingly adopted Prince Chang and treated him like her own son. This was the reason why Prince Chang loves and cares for his brother, Prince Lanxi; it is a transference thing,

The birth of Prince Ju elevated Baili from an ordinary concubine to being a noble consort which finally broke Yige who died of a broken heart.

Before Yigo could even be cold in her grave, the King married Baile and made her the queen.

To make sure, that Prince Ju was first in line to the throne, Baile had been plotting and conniving to debase and dishonour Prince Lanxi. She brought in prostitutes to a child Lanxi.

Lanxi was very intuitive even as a boy and thought that the only way to survive his evil stepmother’s shenanigans was to pretend that he was weak and sickly and had not much interest in court.

Now, BFX went to the Ma Mansion to warn Mr Ma that they were the next on the attack list of the Soultaker Sect.

Bai Fengxi told Mr Ma that his family has something the Soultakers wanted. The horses!

The Soultaker Sect wanted to create a Super Army.

Mr Ma cooperated and that evening, the Soultakers attacked with their best fighters.

The Tianshuang Sect with the Ma guards fought well but the Soultakers were killing machines. BFX looks elegantly gorgeous and nimble with her silk ribbon, a la Spiderman’s web.

BFX was chased by the four more gruesome monstrous soul takers. She was cut in the arm but still fighting valiantly when Hei Feng Xi turned up and fed BFX a pill to get her better.

HFX noticed the cut on BFX’s arm which was enough for him to see red. No pun, just an idiom🤣. HFX ferociously punished the men while BFX watched contentedly. Then someone with a supersonic move dispatched the last one who had taken the horse manual from Mr Ma.

I must say, this was so strange. Why would Mr. Ma had the most important manual in his person when he knew the Soultakers were about to fight to the death to get the manual? He should have hidden it in the most secretive way, shouldn’t he? !!!😭🤣😭

Well anyway, the Flashman was Yu Wuyuan who said that he was in the vicinity and when he heard that the Oddest Woman in the world was also in the locality, he had just to see her.

When BFX found out that Yu Wuyuan was the man before her, she got so excited. She did say to Huang Chao that Yu Wuyuan was the one single man she wanted to meet.

This meeting was not going down well for Lanxi, who fed her medicine and fought off her assassins and was now ignored! So cute?

Episode 7

BFX was excited to find the gentleman before them was Yu Wuyuan. She had so many questions for him which made HFX feel redundant and unappreciated especially when he had just been fighting off the Soultaker guys who were determined to kill BFX.

As HFX could not keep his temper any longer, he reminded BFX that she was injured and yet still talking nonstop.

BFX was unabashed, she told HFX that she hurt her arm not her mouth. She also added that the mouth is for talking and eating as there is nothing to eat she was talking.

HFX said that he brought food, giving BFX a little sack of candied fruit.

BFX was a contended happy bunny.

She told Yu Wuyuan to meet up tomorrow at Mt Tianzi.

Later on, BFX went to see HFX who held out his hand expecting a thank you gift from BFX. She told him that she came by to thank him personally as he already she’s strapped for cash.

He said what else can he expect from her. He found out that BFX was meeting Yu Wuyuan at Mt Tianzi the next day. He was all agog to find out why she was meeting him.

BFX told him that it was none of his business.

But he thought it was his business because first thing the next morning, HFX went to see Yu Wuyuan and warned him off BFX.

Yu Wuyuan was playing the zither in the scenic Mt Tianzi when BFX turned up.

After some pleasantries, Yu Wuyuan asked BFX why she wanted to meet up.

BFX went immediately to the point. She told Yu Wuyuan that Huang Chao had told her that the first person to defeat him was Yu Wuyuan; she was only second. She wanted to find out if Yu Wuyuan was really that good.

Yu Wuyuan had to smile and said that she is indeed the oddest woman in the world while silently reflecting that poor HFX was overthinking.

Yu Wuyuan and BFX had their contest which was jealously watched by HFX on the peak of a mountain. His jealousy went when he realised that what you see is what you get with BFX. She is an uncomplicated woman in many ways.

The king had assigned positions to the princes to keep them busy. Prince Lanxi was working at the Ministry of Works while Prince Ju heads the Ministry of Audit.

Prince Ju’s first audit was at the Ministry of Works where the minister had to confess to Prince Lanxi that he temporarily misappropriated 500,000 silver leaves to pay for an eroding wall after the heavy rain. He took the money meant for the Royal Mausoleum.

Prince Lanxi had to do quick thinking to cover what had happened. But he had no time to replace the funds before Prince Ju came to audit and found a couple of chests empty of silvers.

With a sleight of hand, Prince Lanxi took out a banknote of 500K from his sleeve. He then told Prince Ju that it was safer for the money in the bank rather than kept in a trunk and looked meaningfully at Prince Ju.

They then turned the table at Prince Ju. They will be formally lodging a complaint to the King about Prince Ju’s work ethics and malpractice.

The king was very annoyed so he asked Prince Lanxi how would he like to punish the prince?

Prince Lanxi said that Minister Baile had been inciting Prince Ju and therefore to prevent another mistake by the young Prince Ju, Minister Baile should be removed from his post as it breathes nepotism anyway.

Minister Baile was sacked from his job. The Queen is a Baile so there will be trouble.

To get away from the intrigues he created, Prince Lanxi requested to go for humanitarian works at Decheng.

Meanwhile, Taishuang Sect had decided to go back home with BHX having been made as the temporary leader.

Master Bai said he was going to see a friend.

BHX decided to go by boat as requested by her charges as they have not seen much of the world having been confined in the mountains.

The sailing was rather rough because of the weather, even BHX was seasick.

It so happened that HFX was also traveling by boat to Decheng. Aside from the ghastly weather, his boat was also attacked. HFX fell into the sea. He seemed phobic of water.

Wang Yuan immediately told Prince Ju of what he had arranged to do with Prince Lanxi.

Prince Ju was shocked. He told his assistant that he had had many fights with his brother but it had never entered his mind to kill him.

Jiurong saw the floating body on the sea. BFX went to get it.

It was of course HFX.

HFX was seriously ill which worried BFX. He was calling out to Maid Huan which made BFX a bit intrigued and maybe jealous.

Episode 8

HFX was death cold so BFX had to hold him in her arms all night. They were so cutely awkward when they woke up.

HFX was much better but would not allow BFX to contact anyone to announce that he was well.

Poor Chancellor Ren was going mental and was ready to kill Ren Chuan Yu for having survived the capsize of the boat but not Prince Lanxi. He felt so guilty for the late Queen who he promised to look after Lanxi.

Poor Prince Chang was blamed for the attack on the boat. But logic did point out that he was the least suspect as he was the closest to Lanxi, in fact, he was going demented searching nonstop for Lanxi. He was the saddest person for the disappearance of Lan Xi.

Lan Xi was better. He even took BFX shopping at the House of Jade.

He bought her a beautiful new hanfu. He especially chose a new hairpin for her and told her not to sell it for wine.

BFX said that as it was a gift, she can do what she likes.

Episode 9

The King of Jongzhou attended an offering ceremony for the safe return of Prince Lanxi (HFX). During the ceremony, a decomposing body was brought in. It was supposed to be the remains of Prince Lanxi.

The king was upset, wringing his hands in grief, but Minister Ren turned up with the news that Prince Lanxi had just got home.

Immediately, the king went to see his son. He said to Prince Lanxi that he was glad he had returned.

Prince Lanxi told the king to punish the one who was behind the plot to kill him.

The king agreed instantly but had second thoughts when Lanxi told him that it was Prince Ju who was the perpetrator.

The king was so annoyed he said that he would punish both Lanxi and Ju.

What the king did was bribe Lanxi with a new title. He made him the Prince of Yongping, with his own office, and oversaw a couple of remote towns with 5000 extra servants. The eunuch told Lanxi that the King said what for the nation is for the nation and family should be kept within the family. This means Prince Ju would not be punished using the law.

Speaking of Prince Ju, he had his manservant, Wang Yuan, take all the blame. The servant was then killed.

Prince Ju showed that he was pragmatic when he was given a new servant by the queen.

Prince Ju told his new eunuch that he knew he was his father’s favourite because Prince Ju does what he was told by the Queen. So the King knew Prince Ju would not be plotting against him, Prince Ju also said that if something does happen to the King and Prince Ju becomes the king, his mother will still be the one ruling. He would be a puppet king.

HFX could not keep away from BFX. So he went to Tianshuang’s new dormitory. When BFX asked why he was visiting?

HFX told her that he was her landlord; he owns the place and wanted to know if they are comfortable. He then asked her for a date in the market.

They were meandering among the stalls when HFX saw Feng Qi Wu by the bridge.

HFX is a very practical man. He knew that Qi Wu had a bit of a thing for him. He needed her cooperation so he cannot upset her. So he dragged BFX with him to evade Qi Wu.

One of Qi Wu’s maids commented that the departing guy looks like Prince Lanxi from the back.

Qi Wu said that it was not the Prince as he was not the type to hold hands with a woman, especially in public.

BFX and HFX had a fun time shopping. They ended up in the artist’s corner where BFX asked to have her portrait drawn by the artist. HFX volunteered to do the honours instead.

BFX was just admiring the drawing when she spotted a child about to fall from the bridge. Without a second thought, she flew to save him but then she dislocated her foot.

HFX realigned her bones and then carried her piggyback home.

Episode 10

Leaving in the urban area was rather problematic for the Tianshuang Sect, especially for BFX. She has not got the money to support their everyday needs. She had already pawned any pawnable items she’s got except for the hairpin HFX gave her. Somehow she balks at the idea of being without it.

She remembered that HFX told her that she could go to the House of Jade any time a get money to the value of 1000 by just saying the password he told her.

At the House of Jade, she was warmly welcomed by the owner after she said the password. She asks for 50 pieces of silver🤗.

She had just been given the money when from the other corner of the shop, a man was having an attack, he was foaming at the mouth. BFX went to the man and with acupressure she saved him. Seeing that he was Ok, BFX left.

The man was Prince Chang who was epileptic.

Feng Qi Wu tentatively proposed a marriage alliance with Lanxi.

Lanxi turned her down. He told her that he was not good enough for her because his focus is on Fountain Abode and would not have any time for a wife.

Feng Qi Wu could not fathom the reason why Lanxi turned her down until she overheard Maid Huan questioning a receipt for women’s clothes and accessories on Prince Lanxi’s expenses.

In the Ji Continent, Princess Huang Yu was absolutely gutted when she was rebuffed by Yu Wuyuan once again.

Yu Wuyuan told her that he could not return her feelings for the reason that he is an Empyrean Yu whose life span won’t pass 30. He is already in his late 20s.

But he did not tell her was that he fell for the charm of the Oddest Woman in the world, Bai Feng Xi.

Episode 11

BFX was accosted by assassins but she was more than capable of sorting them out. But then HFX turned up and the assassins left.

HFX asked BFX who she had offended now.

She said she doesn’t have any idea.

After sweet flirtations, while on a dinner date 🤗 , BFX’s little touches made HFX rather hot under the collar which sent HFX skedaddling home leaving BFX to eat and drink alone which she did not mind alone.

After imbibing a lot of alcohol, BFX walked home thinking that it must be the drink that’s making her think that HFX looks so attractive when he grins.

Her sweet drunken reverie was rudely interrupted by the assassins.

BFX told them that she was not in the mood to fight so she evaded them and ended up bumping into Prince Chang. BFX comforted him not to panic as she fought off the assassins. It was a delight to watch this fight scene. BFX used an assassin as a skateboard/lazy Susan kind of thing to move around.

Prince Chang later asked her if she knew him or recognised him.

BFX denied that she knew him. Then she left.

The next day, she was buying steamed buns when she noticed that someone was following her. She wove through the side streets to evade him but he doggedly followed her until she confronted him.

It was Prince Chang who BFX pretended surprise to see. She declared that he was following her probably because he wanted compensation for just leaving him last night and might have a mental breakdown.

Prince Chang latched into this and said that the doctor said that he was so overwhelmed and overwrought with his experience last night that he had only days to live.

BFX played along and took his pulse telling him that he was not going to die any time soon as his pulse is strong, it looks like he saw a quack doctor. She then gave him one of her steamed buns which moved Prince Chang so much.

Prince Chang had a vision of when the Queen Yige gave him a steamed bun.

BFX told him to keep safe and left him in wonder.

BFX knew that he meant to kill her and thought that though he was hateful he was also pitiful. He was so scared that people would find out about his illness.

And HFX found out that it was Prince Chang who sent the assassins to BFX and from the Fountain Abode he also learned of the event of Prince Chang collapsing and being saved by BFX at the House of Jade.

Prince Chang was determined to monitor BFX so he rented the villa next door to BFX.

The king attached his seal to the imperial exam questions.

Three officials, headed by Officer Pei, were in charge of keeping the test question under lock and key.

The young masters of the six nations headed to the Imperial city of Dadong.

Huang Chao was ambushed on his way to Dadong and lost the Empyrean Token. It turned out that this was his own plot knowing that the token was a fake.

The Dadong King issued an edict for Huang Chao and the other six-nation to investigate the Empyrean Token thieves.

Huang Chao was happy that his plan is going his way. He has lofty ambition, he wanted to rule the world using Yu Wuyuan.

Yu Wuyuan told him to go with him to Mount Wu first.

Meanwhile, the Queen was in connivance with the Prime Minister in a cheating scandal at the Imperial Examination using Song Sihan.

Episode 12

It was the day of the examination.

Xu Yuxin was caught cheating and when he was questioned later, he said that he did not bring a cheat note but actually found the cheat sheet already at the Examination hall by his examination cubicle.

He then said that he was approached by a broker telling him that he had a way to pass the exam.

The invigilators then found six other cheat sheets in the hall and four of those students were tutored by official Pei.

Feng Qi Wu immediately went to see Prince Lanxi as her brother was one of those caught with the answer sheet on their exam cell.

Lanxi agreed to help as long as Feng Qi Wu does as he says.

The Emperor was bothered about the greatest cheating scandal. His eunuch gave him food for thought. He said that Feng Shiying and Song Sihan who were implicated in the cheating had better answers than what was on the cheat notes.

There was a brewing problem at Tianshuang quarters, Bai Lenghua was upset that her father seemed to have vanished from the face of the Earth and no one was doing anything about it.

Gu Ye said that it was because BFX wanted so much to be the leader that she was ignoring the fact that the master had disappeared.

BFX warned them, especially Gu Ye. that if they make trouble she will deal with them. She told them that she never envisaged herself as their leader, not in the past, in the present, or in the future. They will discuss this further when the master has returned.

During the court meeting where the Emperor was livid about the cheating scandal, Feng Qi Wu requested that a member of the Royal Family should lead the investigation and suggested Prince Lanxi.

Prince Lanxi was very methodical with his investigation but alas the very top of the Royal Family had instigated the cheating scandal so in a way, Prince Lanxi was like a fish out of water.

Gu Yu was in trouble with the loan shark. He had borrowed money for his gambling which was found out by BFX.

Bai Feng Xi paid the capital but not the interest so the loan shark told her that she could pay the interest in kind while he was looking at her body.

Bai Feng Xi kicked the loan shark and ordered him to get the promissory note.

The Loan shark threw flour at BFX, at that moment HFX turned up and asked what going on.

BFX explained but HFX was really more focus on the flour on BFX’s face. He got a handkerchief from Zhong Li and then started wiping off BFX’s face.

BFX stopped him which made HFX grin all the more enchanting. He told BFX to leave the matter to him. He will get the promissory note himself.

The cheating scandal was heating up. HFX had the loan shark arrested for questioning because he was the one brokering the cheat sheets.

HFX found their evidence. The gold foil paper that only third-ranking officials could use. Their suspect was the Duke of Liang.

Meanwhile, HFX run to BFX to give her the promissory note. He found them having a merry time playing Cuju and joined it until the game was just between him and BFX. It was quite a rowdy game as it was very exciting.

BFX and HFX were jumping and flying as high as the rooftop.

Prince Chang who happened to move in next door saw Lanxi happily flying and jumping.

Poor Prince Chang was shocked out of his system as he felt betrayed by his brother who he thought was so weak and ill that he treated him like an invalid. He asked his manservant what other lies and secrets Lanxi was hiding from him.

It was another court session. Lanxi presented his evidence pointing to Duke of Liang as the culprit.

The Emperor was just about to order the punishment when Minister Wang interrupted.

Minister Wang said that the missing gold foil was in his pocket; the Duke had used the gold foil note to write a letter to the Queen to ask if his daughter could be married to Prince Ju.

Episode 13

With the new evidence, Prince Yongping’s findings were given a vote of no confidence. The ministers then requested a reinvestigation.

They tortured the four students to confession but it was only Song Sihan who broke and pointed to his tutor, Pei Youyue, who has a direct connection to Prince Yongping/Lanxi.

Pei Youyue was arrested and imprisoned but Baile knew that it was only a matter of time before her exam leaker, Xu Xiaomu was found out.

She ordered the newly returned Prince Ju from Dadong to execute Xu Xiaomu without leaving any trace to point at them.

It so happened that Gu`Yu of the Tianshuang Sect was back to his gambling addiction and was borrowing more money. When he can’t anymore, he got ugly.

Li Jia Xian, Prince Ju’s new aide came to his aid and paid off his debts.

He then told GuYu that he needed his help to kill a very corrupt official for 1000 silver leaves. 500 was given to him as a deposit.

That night, Gu `Yu went to Xu Xiaomu’s house and stabbed him. As usual, the Fountain Abode was a tad too late. But they did catch Gu Yu and heard from Xu Xiaomu the world Mulan before he died.

Meanwhile, BFX found out about GuYu’s latest shenanigans so she sneaked into Prince Yongping’s manor. She told him that she did suspect that Lanxi and Prince Yongping are one and the same because it would be impossible for an ordinary citizen to run the Fountain Abode.

BFX asked Lanxi what was Gu Yu involved in. After giving her the full intel, BFX asked Lanxi to show her the exam envelope.

Of course, being a real Grand Poetess, who knew her fonts and inks, she immediately noticed that the test enveloped sealed by the king was a copy. She showed him how it was done by just a sleight of her hand. Apparently, this cultivation is common knowledge to martial artists.

Now, Lanxi had his new evidence. BFX and Lanxi heard that Gu Yu had killed himself in prison which BFX said that Gu Yu would never do.

Between them they puzzled out what the word Mulan meant. BFX said that Xu Xiaomu must be a foreigner with a hidden villa somewhere.

They got there just as Baile’s arsonists were about to torch the place. They found more of the exam notes from a hidden animal horn.,

Now, with solid evidence, Prince Yongping went to his father and told him to apprehend the mastermind.

The king said that the mastermind Xu Xiaomu is dead but Prince Yongping would not have it and blurted out that the king refuses because they both know that the she-devil was involved.

The King could not deny it but told Lanxi that his hurt feeling is a minute thing compared to the stability of Yongzhou. If they go after the queen, the other nations would go after them. So just look at the big picture.

The king went to visit his queen and told her that because of her shenanigans she just made Prince Ju even further away from the throne.

Baile said that she hated the sight of Lanxi with every fibre of her being. Seeing him reminds her of not being able to see or speak with the king for five years, twenty years ago. So lame an excuse.

The King understood and bought it because he was actually not partial to Prince Lanxi himself . The King felt like a peasant with his humble background compared to his son whose mother Yige is a true blue blood princess.

Chancellor Ren went to see Lanxi. He also advised him to look at the big picture, just overlook this for now. He said he knew that Lanxi was not only after the kingdom of Yongzhou but more. He reiterated once again the need for Lanxi to get married to Feng Qi Wu.

LanXi told him that he does not have time for a wife.

The Tianshuang Sect who had been put on curfew was shocked at the suicide of Guyu and BFX said she was going to investigate it. The sect found out that their master was wandering Mount Wu.

Episode 14

BFX was told of who brought the poison for Gu Yu to prison and that person had been apprehended. When she asked for Gu Yu’s body, she was told that because he killed an official he was buried by the Ministry of Justice.

The curfew had been lifted for Tianshuang Sect and were free to leave any time.

BFX met Lanxi for an eat-all-you-can dinner cooked by Lanxi himself. They got talking about him being a prince and his devotion to a girl he does not even know how she looks like.

He said that BFX was right; if he meets Xiyun again, he would not recognise her. The last time he saw her was when he was at Dadong mausoleum promising the old portrait of King Weilie to unite the 6 nations.

A girl then wandered into the mausoleum and told him that he was trespassing at a forbidden place. He saw a painting of her forebear, General Fengsu, the first female general known for her beauty and bravery. He mentioned that she has a striking resemblance to the general but she was second best.

Young Xiyun said that she was now the most beautiful as the General was long dead. Lanxi had always admired Xiyun’s directness.

Anyway, after dinner, BFX and HFX said very sombre goodbyes to each other. BFX said that they will be leaving for Mount Wu the next morning.

Lanxi was sad but realised that he belongs in court while BFX must be free to travel anywhere.

The King had given Lanxi another task. This time to get them more military horses because despite the big budget for horses they were still 30 percent low on their equine requirements.

Lanxi knew that this was just a surface request. The king wanted Lanxi to find out what was going on with the procurement of horses.

This new task got to Minister Wang who is the brother of Wang Ming Tai in charge of the horses. Minister Wang went immediately to the Queen to warn her that Prince Yongping will be investigating the embezzlement.

The Queen was surprised as she was not really aware of it but then Minister Wang said that 80 percent of the money embezzled goes into the pocket of Prince Ju. So they will get into trouble if this comes to light.

The Queen told Minister Wang to get more horses. She then called Prince Ju and had his hand hit with a ruler by the Queen’s lady in waiting. The Queen ordered her son to go to his uncle, General Ning to borrow a thousand horses.

The Queen was extraordinarily busy. She summoned her firstborn, Prince Chang. She told him that his bride had been chosen.

The potential bride was Cheng Qian, the spoilt daughter of a duke. Cheng Qian told Prince Chang to always obeys her to as she says so her father will grant him a title after the marriage, after all he was only a servant’s son.

Prince Chang was abhorred with the whole thing. He knew why his mother wanted him to marry Cheng Qian.

Cheng Qian’s family is a mortal enemy of Prince Yongping, which meant he had to choose between his brother and his wife’s family.

Prince Chang told his mother that he was not really for marriage. His mother told him that if he does not do as she says, their mother-and-son relationship was revoked that day. Prince Chang walked away.

Prince Yongping got to hear what happened to Prince Chang and was absolutely livid by the Queen’s new plot.

Meanwhile, Lanxi got to hear that BFX and her charge met Huang Chao, YU Wuyuan, and Xue Kong at Mount Wu.

Immediately, Lanxi’s hackle rose even more.

BFX, Langhua, Jiu Rong went with Huang Chao, Yu Wuyuan, and Xue Kong to the thick of the forest and were immediately attacked by some aggressive leaves.

They fought the beautiful autumn leaves valiantly but Langhua fell into an open pit followed by Jiurong.

Out of nowhere, BFX heard a voice telling her to proceed further and that Langhua and Jiurong were safe.

Episode 15

Ma Mengqi, the super horse breeder who he saved with BFX from the Soultaker Sect saved the day for Lanxi. He provided Lanxi with robust horses which showed beyond doubt that the horses were not the missing military horses that Wang Mengtai was trying to pin on Lanxi.

Lanxi asked his father to punish Wang Mengtai for his slander.

Wang Mengtai was brought to the dungeon.

Prince Ju order his aide to kill Wang Mengtai despite his aide telling him that the Queen won’t be happy. Prince Ju reminded his aide from the onset that his word was law to his aide.

The ‘suicide’ of Mengtai upset Minister Wang who said that the Queen had overstepped her position.

The Queen was shocked by Mengtai’s murder and never suspected that it was her son’s doing instead she believed that it was all Lanxi’s plan.

Lanxi ordered that the surplus of 1000 military horses be returned to General Ning. He said that they should have a tea and a chat soon. General Ning realised that the Queen’s position is now teetering in the abyss.

Lanxi found out that BFX might be trapped at Mt Wu because of the mountain erosion.

Yu Wuyuan was not a good character afterall. To ensure that he gets to the Sacred Jade Moon first, he trapped BFX by destroying the cultivation formation of the mountain which caused the erosion.

Yu Wuyuan was so desperate for the jade because it could lift the curse on his clan, i.e., dying before 30.

Old Tian Yi found out what Wuyuan did so he ordered his aide to lead Wuyuan to an enclosed sector that will trap him.

Old Tian Yi seemed to have been waiting for BFX.

Meanwhile, the 30-odd heroes trapped in the mountain including Huang Chao, the Tianshuang Sect Master, Jiurong, Longhua, and Xuekong were waiting for that one hero to obtain Old Tian Yi’s legacy which will then set them all free.

Unfortunately, BFX was hurt and trapped but then she saw a falcon circling in an opening on the top of the mountain. Before another erosion happened, HFX was there to save her. He tended to her solicitously but got jealous when he found out that she had been with Yu Wuyuan for days.

HFX and BFX had their cute moments and then decided to go see Old Tian.

They passed the first test about moral values. They had to put each of the eight moral values to its corresponding ferocious statues. Thank goodness, BFX remembered seeing them at the Dadong Mausoleum.

Episode 16

The second test was a game of GO (chess). HFX took the test and as soon as he put a black piece, he felt strange. He had an outer body experience, where 6 beautiful white Lanxi were fighting with him. HFX quickly realised that the test was about a Delphinic maxim ‘ Know Thyself’ so the test was extremely easy as who knew yourself more than yourself. So the gorgeous while Lanxis grinned understandingly at him before they vanished into thin air.

Then out of nowhere, he saw his younger self who told him that they had both killed their mother. If his younger self did not sneak out of the palace, he/they would have seen their mother one last time.

His younger self went for him with a dagger but older Lanxi told his younger self that he had come to terms with the death of his beloved mother.

Now the final test. It was cutting the three thousand threads of thoughts and worries. Lanxi cut the 2999 threads in no time at all but the last thread was about his obsession with BFX. He surrendered. He said that she is the one thing he can never let go of and would rather perish to eternal damnation than be without her or of her memories.

Seeing that he was really succumbing to whatever was taking over him, BFX just kick out the GO table which surprised and impressed Old Tian Yi because she managed to break his Go formation.

Old Tian Yi told BFX that it was up to her to get back the old Lanxi as his qi caved into his inner demons. Old Tian Yi advised BFX to attack the three delicate life points of HFX. His back, his chest and top of his head. She then transferred her qi to HFX and would have died if HFX did not wake up and see her weakening.

HFX transferred back some of his Qi to HFX.

Old Tian Yi finally realised the missing piece of his legacy. It was the willingness to die for each other. It is unconditional love and brotherhood. 🤣🤗

BFX and HFX did not come specifically to Mt Wu for the legacy. HFX said he came for BFX while BFX was there to find Master Bai.

BFX and HFX passed the test, which meant that the trapped heroes were freed from their capture but only to face a death-defying battle against the Soultaker Sect pre-arranged by Yu Wuyuan to turn up.

Old Tian Yi gave the very prestigious Old Map of Dadong to HFX and then he told BFX that he likes her so he was leaving the Sacred Jade Moon to her and hopefully it would be a great help when she and HFX are in great danger.

BFX was rather concerned that Old Tian Yi had really nothing to live for after handing out his great legacy.

Old Tian Yi understood and said it was time.

Outside, Yu Wuyuan wanted to know who got the jade and asked the last disciple of Old Tian Yi. The disciple refused to say as they both saw Mt Wu start to crumble into dust. The disciple said that Old Tian Yi built the mountain as his gravesite.

Anyway, Wuyuan was persistent and asked who got the jade. He then held the disciple by the chest using his Destroyer Palm. The disciple just managed to say that Wuyuan was the descendant of the Locust before he died.

Master Tianshuang was hit by an arrow and would have been killed if BFX and HFX did not turn up at the right time. But both were braver, stronger, and with advanced cultivation from Old Tian Yi.

Huang Chao later invited everyone for a little bit of rest and relaxation at his manor but HFX said that he and BFX can’t go.

BFX was very surprised that HFX was making decisions for her. But he said that Yongzhou was nearer for her Master to get treated.

Anyway, it was the morning court and Prince Yongping was a no-show. They said that he did a great job with the horses but it seems it has gone to his head as he could not even be bothered to send an excuse for non-attendance.

Incited, the king was just about to send someone to fetch Prince Yongping but then he turned up full of apologies.

And as a piece de resistance, he offered the prized Old Map of Dadong to his father. Everyone could not believe that the map was real and in their possession. It means the other five nations won’t be able to attack them.

Prince Yongping confided that he had been to Mt Wu after being summoned by Old Tian Yi, who was known as the living saint (not anymore). Lanxi further said that it was Old Tian Yi who rescued him when his was missing at see and cured him of his childhood illness.

They were oohing and ahhing at the map when the Imperial ambassador was announced. Immediately the king ordered to hide the map.

The Imperial Ambassador came as a representative of the Dadong King to celebrate Yige’s 40th birthday in heaven.

When the ambassador asked to be taken to the memorial tomb of Yige, the King went blank so Lanxi rescued him saying that the ambassador must be tired. He will take the ambassador personally during the official celebration in three days.

The King was grateful to Lanxi. What the king did not know was that Lanxi prearranged the arrival of the ambassador as a warning to the Queen.

Episode 17

A memorial to the first Queen was quickly prepared and Lanxi went to pray to his mother for guidance. He also told her that he had met a girl who greatly reminds him of his mother who makes him feel confident.

It was YiGe’s 40th birthday memorial celebration.

The king honoured his first queen with good kind words.

Then Prince Yongping followed suit.

The present Queen had a meltdown and spilled the wine offering haphazardly which did not go well with the audience and the king was affronted.

He was so aghast at her behaviour, that he put her under house arrest for a month.

Still, she managed to manipulate Prince Chang into agreeing to a marriage with Qi Cheng. She told him that if he refuses, she will reveal his illness which will make him a pariah and even Lanxi will shun him.

Master Bai asked Prince Yongping and his Fountain Abode to help the master investigate the existence of fake Empyrean Tokens. Apparently, Master Bai is one of the Token Keepers.

A Token Keeper protects the Empyrean Token as well as limits the power of the existing ruler over the 6 Nations.

Episode 18

Lanxi learned that Prince Chang had agreed to the marriage. Lanxi suspected that he was being coerced into the marriage.

Prince Ju was absolutely jealous and livid that Prince Chang had been promoted to Prince Yongxin on his marriage.

He instructed his aide of some dastardly act which his aide was shocked to find out.

It was the start of the wedding celebration.

Despite not getting on with the new in-laws of Prince Chang, Lanxi still decided to attend.

Lanxi was set up but he was always a few steps ahead but poor Prince Chang had to sacrifice his well-being for Lanxi when the body of Qi Cheng stabbed in the neck dead was brought in by the killer. They made it look like Lanxi had killed Qi Cheng but then Prince Chang came and saw what happened and he plunged himself from the balcony to show that he was overcome by the killer.

Prince Ju was smirking at the mezzanine waiting for the drama to unravel. Prince Ju pinned Lanxi for knowing something about the death of Qi Cheng but then Lanxi pretended that he had just come from fishing in the pool and he had witnesses. He had already constructed an alibi before the incident even happened by having someone look like him by the fishing pool with other fishermen.

The king suspected the Queen and Prince Ju but as always, he believed the Queen when she said that she did not know anything.

Episode 19

This episode got me so tearful.

In order to protect Prince Yongping, the unwell Prince Yongxin cast him away during their regular annual chess game ritual every 24 December.

Prince Yongxin thought that the closer he got to Prince Yongping, the more danger Lanxi will get from Queen Baile. Prince Yongxin does not want to be the tool to harm Lanxi.

Kudos to Zhang Tian Yan. His acting is so good. He looks so frail, sad, delicate, and rather hopeless.

Prince Yongqing was feeling lost because it really affected him that Prince Yongxin was cutting him off from his life. Prince Yongxin was the only person that he really thought of as a family after the death of his mother.

He was wandering by the marketplace looking at clay sculptures when gorgeous BFX found him. She offered to buy him all the clay sculptures just to put a smile on his face.

The shopkeeper said that the figurines were not for sale but the clay was as you can mold your own figure.

BFX dragged Lanxi to a table and started to mold a mini statue of Lanxi which he said was ugly but won’t be parted from it because it came from her. In no time, Lanxi was grinning like a young schoolboy.

Yu Wuyuan found out that HFX was the Prince of Yongping and decided to get rid of him.

Wuyuan was told of the origin of his family curse.

It started after the Battle of Chongde when foreign invaders almost overthrew the Dadong Empire. The invaders were called the Crickets.

The Crickets were composed of elite soldiers from three families. The Locust was the leader of the Crickets. It was the Yu Family who was the Locust. After their defeat at the Battle of Chongde, the Empyrean Token put a curse on the three families.

He needed the Sacred Jade Moon to nullify the curse.

Episode 20

The king of Yongzhou invited Yu Wuyuan to the palace and asked him to join his posse.

Yu Wuyuan turned him down saying that he wanted to be able to roam the world at will but he did give the king some secret advice.

It is the new year’s celebration and all nations and every sect were having a party including the Tianshuang Sect.

Wuyuan targeted Prince Ju as his pawn to get rid of Lanxi.

He shared a modus operandi on how to implicate Lanxi in theft and fraud at the Ministry of Revenue where one of those in charge was Vice Minister Zhou who was married to a cousin of Minister Feng.

Lanxi ordered Minister Feng (Qi Wu) to try to secretly see Vice Minister Zhou in the dungeon and get his own side of the story and also to tell him not to talk to the investigators.

Feng Qi Wu was knocked out by a hooded Yu Wuyuan with one blow.

Everyone was worried about Qi Wu as she had become an integral member of Fountain Abode and one of the confidants of Prince Yongping.

Lanxi found out that Qi Wu’s qi had been misaligned and to correct it and remove her poison, they need pure energy.

The pure energy was of course can only be from the Sacred Jade Moon.

Lanxi went to BFX, who was only too happy to be of help. Lanxi stopped her and mentioned that Qi Wu once confessed to him her feelings.

BFX just looked blankly at Lanxi which only made him upset because he wanted her to show a little jealousy. BFX sort of read his mind and thought that if the confession was in the past then it was in the past. So she dragged Lanxi to Qi Wu’s mansion.

Between them, they use their qis to draw out the poison inside Qi Wu.

Lanxi said that they need someone else to draw the poison. But BFX was already on to it which made Lanxi worried and annoyed because BFX still has residual poison in her body from the past.

BFX was able to remove the poison and to toss it out. She assured a worried Lanxi that she would have not done it she can’t do it. She knows her limit.

Still, Lanxi remained worried. She told him that she only did it for him which immediately cheered him up and asked her to elaborate but the moment had passed into sweet awkward side looks.

They realised later that Qi Wu was not the real target. It was them for the Sacred Jade Moon.

Lanxi took the opportunity to tell BFX that for both their protection they should stay together closely until they’ve solved the case.

Funnily, it was a case of deep friendship at first sight for both BFX and Qi Wu. They got on so well and became a mutual admiration society of two that Lanxi felt left out.

Lanxi was also rather miffed when BFX asked if she and Lanxi could stay at the Feng Mansion, Qi Wu’s family mansion (rather than at the Yongping palace)

Seeing that Qi Wu was still very weak, BFX said that she will do her role for Qi Wu and help Lanxi solve the case about Vice Minister Zhou.

Lanxi and BFX sneaked into the ministry of Revenue to look for the ledger but they found out that the ledger was not the only one missing.

While, Qi Wu was asleep, Yu Wuyuan crept to her bedroom and extracted the jade globule he put into her chest which has now the traits of the Sacred Jade Moon.,

Yu Wuyuan made use of the Sacred Jade Moon but realised that its effect will only be partial and temporary. He really needs the Empyrean Token to completely reverse the curse.

Episode 21

Just between the new besties BFX and Qi Wu, they were able to puzzle out where the money went and who was working with the culprit.

Qi Wu said the New Year has many festivals and celebrations so many traveling entertainment troupes are in the area.

Poor Lanxi was feeling like a third wheel but not for long because BFX said that she has an idea how to smoke out the culprit.

They narrow down the troupes into the most likely to be in cahoots with the culprit at the palace.

BFX and Lanxi wandered in to the troupe’s base. They pretended to be brother and sister and that Lanxi is a good Chinese Opera singer and was looking for work.

Lanxi showed his singing and acting prowess. He was so good he was promptly hired.

BFX and HFX would then sneak in and search the place for any sign of the missing silver leaves. Searching was futile and the troupe was getting suspicious of them so much so that they barged in at Lanxi’s quarter to interrogate him.

They found BFX hiding in the cupboard. But then BFX was a quick thinker and said that she was not a sister but actually the wife of Mr Shang (Lanxi). They eloped and she got so frightened that they had been found by their family, thus, she was hiding in the cupboard.

It was so believable and romantic, that the troupe left them alone.

Finally, they found the silver leaves buried under tile roofs on a tower building.

They’ve arrested the leader and the rest of the troupe. Still, the leader refused to spill the beans so BFX, did her tricks, she ordered the wife first to be taken outside and seeming had her beaten to death, then the leader’s ‘brother’.

The leader got so frightened he sang like a canary and provide written testimonies of who the leader was.

Minister Feng (Qi Wu) presented her report to the king who ordered the release of Vice Minister Zhou.

Prince Ju was so annoyed. He went to see Yu Wuyuan who gave him a pouch that will make the king so wary of Prince Yongping.

Qi Wu became more impressed with BFX who she thought was totally badass. Qi Wu told her assistant that now she could understand why Lanxi seemed obsessed with BFX. She even said that she was contented that Lanxi chose BFX because she is one hell of a woman.

BFX and Qi Wu got on so well poor Lanxi felt really redundant.

Episode 22

Lanxi was all set to confess to BFX. He had flowers in vases everywhere, almond cakes, wine, and fireworks.

He had already rehearsed and envisioned how BFX will fall in his arms and then share a kiss with her. He was really into the imaginary kiss.

But then BFX was one of a kind. So his sweet imagination vs the reality was sadly differing. So cute

Instead, BFX treated him more like her brother in arms because when he tried to put his arm around her, she retaliated by putting her arm on his shoulder like they were comrades. He left rather askance when BFX said that the firework was so cliche.

Lanxi told Zhong Li to bring him all the romance books that Zhong Li loved so much. He wanted to read romance to feel romantic without being cliche.

BFX and Qi Wu were playing a game of Go when Qi Wu quizzed her about Lanxi. Finally BFX realised what that night was about.

Qi Wu asked her how she felt for Lanxi and BFX turned into a young girl who was in the flush of first love.

Maid Huan found out about the growing and deepening relationship between her master and BFX. So she took it upon herself to beg Chancellor Ren to intervene as she reckon although BFX was not good enough for Prince Yongping, Lanxi will ignore everything else and marry BFX. Maid Huan thought that she was letting down the First Queen for allowing any tarnish to Prince Yongping’s reputation.

Chancellor Ren went to see Master Bai about it.

Episode 23

Chancellor Ren advised Master Bai to restain BFX from contacting Prince Yongping because nothing will come out of their relationship.

He more or less told Master Bai that BFX was not good enough for the prince.

Master Bai was stoical. He said just to leave BFX and the Prince alone to sort out whatever is between them.

BFX immediately found out about the visit of Chancellor Ren regarding her bothering Lanxi.

Still rather annoyed when Zhong Li turned up, BFX did not give a firm answer if she was willing to meet up with Lanxi.

Instead, she went to see the Chancellor, who she told that the Prince should be allowed to make up his own mind because life is too short to spend life in an arranged marriage.

Chancellor Ren realised that BFX was really an exceptional woman. He felt guilty about interfering with Prince Yongping’s love life.

He raced to Prince Yongping’s mansion and found the prince with Zhongli and Maid Huan.

He apologised for interfering. Prince Yongping was so irate and reminded him never to interfere with BFX. He noticed that Maid Huan was so nervous and realised that she was the one who incited Chancellor Ren to go to Master Bai.

When the Chancellor had gone, he told Maid Huan that she no longer has a place in his palace because what she had done was tantamount to treason.

He ordered Shong Li to give Maid Huan a hundred silver leaves and then to get her out of his face.

Maid Huan begged and begged to be allowed to stay in the palace and serve the prince but she knew she had lost.

She left the palace but she was well taken care of as the Prince had bought her a house her own shop to run in her hometown,

BFX turned up to the light festival where he prepared another confession but then they got interrupted by an emergency.

He had to leave and she understood wholeheartedly.

Later on BFX received a letter from her brother about Qingzhou and an imminent war with Liangcheng. She asked Master Bai to leave. He allowed her to go immediately.

Concurrently, Lanxi, being in charge of the Ministry of Work had been tasked by the king to supervise the dam construction. The King said that Lanxi could leave the next day with 500 elite soldiers.

The next day, Lanxi was not surprised when the elite soldiers turned out to be far from being elite. In fact, they were untrained soldiers. But he promised that he will make them the best soldiers.

His day got better when BFX turned up. BFX was going to Liangcheng.

Meanwhile, Prince Ju opened the sachet that Yu Wuyuan left him. He read the message inside the pouch which says that Prince Yongping is really Hai Feng Xi, the leader of Fountain Abode and the House of Jade.

He told his aide not to tell anyone as he had to really think about it.

But it was too late. Baile found out from the spy she employed at Prince Ju’s mansion.

Meanwhile, Hua Chun Ran, the Princess of Youzhou does not want to get married. She is an ambitious girl. She wanted to be the Empress of Youzhou just like the First Queen/Empress who ruled Qingzhou.

Yu Wuyuan had gone back to Jizhou and immediately told Huang Chao that Prince Yongping is HFX the leader of Fountain Abode.

The road to Liangcheng was treacherous. The soil erosion made traveling dangerous. But having BFX with him made this dangerous mission the happiest time for Lanxi. Ahhh love!

Episode 24

BFX is really great help and inspiration to Lanxi. She advised him to turn what is viewed as negative into something positive.

She was talking about the many flocks of ravens that were circling their camp.

Immediately, the soldiers became superstitious. Blackbirds meant death.

Lanxi came out of his tent and announced that on the contrary, the birds are their mascot to glory. He just named his soldiers Moyu Cavalry which made them jubilant.

Meanwhile, Ju Ming was in charge of Laingcheng and was very dismissive of Prince Yongping.

Prince Yongping played to what Ju Ming thought of him as someone spoilt, ineffectual, and sickly.

However, Ju Ming was suspicious of him and asked his guard to watch Lanxi and his men.

To get a feel for the land, Zhong Li had to dress up and pretend to be Prince Yongping so Lanxi and BFX can have a walk-in town to observe their surrounding.

They knew immediately that Ju Ming is up to no good and is cruel and pocketed all the money sent by the palace for the people and construction works.

Ju Ming invited Prince Yongping to a night of eating and drinking.

Lanxi brought with him BFX who was pretending as Lanxi’s court maid. Lanxi enjoyed the moment so much as he had BFX sitting on his lap as she drank wine.

But then, Ju Ming brought in drug wine which he made Lanxi drink.

Lanxi knew that the wine was tampered with so he used his cultivation to minimise the effect of the drug.

BFX immediately went into action and had her sword tip against Ju Ming’s neck as the Moyu cavalry overpowered all of Ju Ming’s men into submission.

BFX cut Ju Ming’s neck because of his inhumanity.

Master Bai was contacted by a Token Keeper who informed him that one of them had been killed.

They found from the dead Token Keeper’s belonging a jade token that could only belong to a high-ranking official of Dadong.

Hua Chu Ran was made as the Divine Fairy of Dadong when she brought the sarira to the King who noticed that his Prized Lotus had bloomed in her presence.

3 May 2022: as this drama becomes more popular, negative publicity are the more ferocious. Some anti-fans started circulating in Weibo that this drama was plagiaised from Royal Nirvana.

Then, there was also the issue of animal cruety on episode 1 where a horse was apparently pulled down from its hind legs by invisible wires so the horse topples down on the ground.

The animal trainer had issued a statement and a photo of the said horse that everything is fine. The horse is trained for stunt.

Anyway, as to its popularity, South Korea had bought the copyright to release WRTW in South Korea, Apparently LuSi is especially popular in Korea.

Episode 25

I love this episode. It is the sweetest yet. Usually, misunderstandings between a couple in dramaland are the start of protracted heartaches for the characters and viewers alike but with these two, the misunderstanding is all the sweeter. I also love that BFX met her brother Xieyue.

Hua Chun Ran was reminiscing the time when she was ten years old, the same age as Huang Chao, Xiyun and Lanxi.

Xiyun had always been on par with the two princes. She was playing ‘statues’ with the two princes when Hua Chun Ran came running in wanting to know where the Feng Huang crown was.

No one seemed to notice her; she realised that they were in a game of statue so she started tickling Lanxi.

Lanxi said that Chun Ran should not be thinking of the Feng Huang crown because it does not even exist. King Weile designed the Feng Crown and wore it throughout his reign and even to the end when he was laid to rest many centuries ago.

Chun Ran started crying which annoyed Huang Chao and told her that the Feng Crown must be filthy by now, it is not worthy of beauty like her.

Meanwhile, Xiyun could not care less because she wanted the winning money of 5 silver leaves each from Huang Chao and Lanxi. She was always self-possessed even from a young age.

In the present time, Hua Chu Ran was wondering who you make her an empress? Huang Chao or Lanxi?

Well, not Lanxi because he lives and breathes BFX.

When BFX asked if Chu Ran was much better that Xiyun, Lan Xi immediately said that despite Chu Ran having been made as Divine Fairy, which makes her on equal footing with any man, Chu Ran is still inferior to Xiyun, who had accomplished many things when still young.

BFX could not help saying that his jaw will drop when he finally ‘meet’ Xiyun.

She then pretended to be annoyed with him to prevent him from asking more questions.

He was at first miffed the BFX was so annoyed but then Zhong Li said that BFX was exhibiting jealousy.

Immediately, Lanxi cheered up. He said that jealousy meant BFX really likes him.

Zhong Li had to bring him down to the ground and told him that he should have read the whole novel.🤣🤣 Jealousy could mean demise to the male lover.

Their conversation suddenly turned sinister when they started talking that war may be unavoidable against the soldiers of Qingzhou who are stationed on the periphery of Liangcheng just waiting to attack.

Zhong Li reminded Lanxi that his father more or less wanted a war to break out.

Lanxi said not if he could help it. People’s lives are more important than waging war. He said that they had to communicate with Xiuyue, the Prince of Qingzhou to rally a truce.

That night, Lanxi became worried when nobody seem to know where BFX had gone. He was equally worried and excited. He thought that BFX was so miffed with jealousy that she went out to sulk somewhere. This meant she truly likes him.

Actually, BFX went to see her brother, Xiuyue. She told him that he need not wage a war with Liangcheng because Lanxi was sorting the problem of the canals and dams.

Xiuyue smirked that BFX seemed to be into Lanxi.

BFX’s grin could not deny it. Aww, they looked so good as brother and sister. You can feel their affection for one another.

BFX told his brother everything she knew about Yongzhou and Lanxi. She told him that Lanxi was HFX, the leader of Fountain abode and House of Jade.

Her brother said that Lanxi sounded quite a guy but he would check Lanxi out if he was really worthy of BFX and perhaps give Lanxi some advice on how to deal with her.
