Who Sang The National Anthem At The Chiefs Parade

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – For a second consecutive season, Kansas City will host a Super Bowl parade.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in a thrilling overtime win on Sunday evening.

The parade to celebrate the Super Bowl LVIII champs has been scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m., and it will begin at 6th Street and Grand Boulevard.

Chiefs Parade Route/2024(KY3)

It will then head south on Grand, west on Pershing Road, north on Main Street and will culminate at Union Station. The parade will last about an hour and a half.

The rally in front of Union Station will take place about 12:45 p.m. in front of Union Station and the National WWI Museum and Memorial North Lawn.

Great news! Wednesday looks to be the perfect day for a parade. The First Warn 5 Weather team says we are looking at a phenomenal morning and afternoon forecast for Wednesday. It will be mostly clear-to-partly cloudy skies with temperatures starting near freezing in the morning and increasing to the lower 60s by mid-to-late afternoon.

KC Streetcar

The KC Streetcar will operate on a limited basis on the day of the parade. Officials have stated that the Union Station streetcar stop will close to passengers at the end of regular service time on Tuesday. The following morning on Feb. 14, passenger service will be available at all streetcar stops except Union Station until 10:30 a.m.

On Wednesday morning, the KC Streetcar will operate between 10-12 minute frequencies.

Starting about 10:30 a.m., streetcar service will be suspended until the end of the rally held at Union Station. After the streetcar tracks are cleared at 20th Street and Pershing Road, the KC Streetcar will resume operation.

KCATA

Round trip Park and Ride shuttles will run from 7-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, and then again from 12-4 p.m. Riders must return to the drop-off location for their specific shuttle. Those riding the shuttles have been advised of possible wait times of up to 45 minutes at these Park and Ride locations:

  • Former K-Mart at Chouteau and Vivion (map) 2835 NE Vivion Rd, Kansas City, MO 64119. Event Dropoff and Shuttle Pick-up: Truman Road & Lydia
  • HyVee Arena / West Bottoms (map) 1800 Genessee St, Kansas City, MO 64102. Event Dropoff and Shuttle Pick-up: 18th & Troost
  • Swope Park/Zoo (map) 6800 Zoo Dr, Kansas City, MO 64132. Event Dropoff and Shuttle Pick-up: 31st & Gillham
  • Oak Park Mall (map) 11149 W 95th St, Overland Park, KS 66214 (95th and Neiman Road Park & Ride location). Event Dropoff and Shuttle Pick-up: Avenida Cesar E Chavez & Southwest Boulevard
  • 47th Street State Transit Center (map) 849 N 47th St, Kansas City, KS 66102. Buses will drop off and pick-up at Hy-Vee Arena, where passengers will make a transfer to Ride KC buses heading to 18th and Troost

Worlds of Fun is not a Park and Ride location for this year’s parade.

AMTRAK

On Wednesday, ticketed Amtrak passengers must enter and exit Union Station via the rotunda entrance on the lower level of the west side of the building (adjacent to the planetarium / directly across from the West Yards Garage).

The streets running east and west of Grand Boulevard will be closed between Walnut and McGee streets from 6th Street on the north to Pershing Road on the south. Street closures began at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

From 20th Street to Pershing Road, Main Street will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians on Wednesday, February 14.

Main Street from Pershing Road to 27th Street will be closed to vehicles but open to pedestrians. Additional closures on Main Street from 27th Street to 31st Street will be in effect when the parade begins.

Street Parking

Those who regularly rely on parking downtown and in the Crossroads can expect temporary restrictions along several streets. Those began to take effect at 11 a.m. on Tuesday and last through Wednesday evening. Vehicles that have been parked on interstates or temporary no-parking zones will be towed. Union Station

The Union Station West Yard Parking Garage will be open for public parking on a first-come basis on Wednesday until full or until access at Pershing Road and Broadway is potentially closed. Parking in our garage will be paid upon entry using credit or debit cards only and will be $50 per vehicle. The garage will open at midnight, and a NO TAILGATING policy will be enforced. There will be no restrooms in the garage, and there will be no access to the restrooms inside Union Station.

Crown Center

Drivers can access the retail parking garage at Grand Boulevard just south of the main entrance to the Crown Center Shops will be open. New, wider spaces are available on Level 3A, just outside the entrance to Halls Kansas City store. Crown Center garages and surface lots will be open for parade parking on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, until filled. Parking will be $40 per vehicle, and it will only accept credit or debit cards. The garages will open at 5 a.m. No overnight parking in the Crown Center garages or on the surface lots will be permitted. Crown Center also stated that no grilling or glass containers are permitted on surface lots or in garages.

National WWI Museum and Memorial

There will be a limited number of parking spaces at the memorial. Those in Chiefs Kingdom looking to park their cars at the memorial’s southeast lawn can purchase a reserved parking pass for $50. Tickets must be purchased online in advance.

City officials have established multiple reunification points. If someone becomes separated from their group or family, they are advised to contact a police officer. Police chief Stacey Graves said on Monday that more than 600 officers will be working in and around the parade route.

Missing people, including children, will be taken to one of the following seven reunification sites:

  • The Kansas City Missouri Police Department | 1125 Locust St (map)
  • T-Mobile Center Concourse | 14th & Grand (map)
  • Resurrection Downtown | 1601 Grand Blvd (map)
  • UMB Bank | 1800 Grand Blvd (map)
  • Blue Cross & Blue Shield – West side entrance | 2301 Main St (map)
  • Lunchland at Crown Center | 2475 Grand (map) | Located on the Third Level above SEA LIFE Aquarium and LEGOLAND DISCOVERY CENTER

Several restaurants and bars near the parade route will have their doors open on Wednesday. The North Lawn at the National WWI Museum and Memorial will also feature Kansas City-area companies like Love Letters, Ruby Jean’s Juicery, Strawberry Swing vendors and local food trucks.

Several Kansas City Fire Department will be in various locations along the route, and the parade with have a staffed medic tent on the east side of the National WWI Museum between the north and south lawn (see map for location).

Anyone requiring emergency medical attention should try to find a roving KCFD firefighter. KCFD crews will be identifiable via fluorescent green vests and flags and will be located on the perimeter of the parade route and around Union Station.

Parade producers have designated space in Crown Center Square for wheelchairs and ADA accessibility. Please be advised that space is limited and is first come, first served. The parade and rally will be televised in this area. ASL interpreters will be present.

ASL interpreters will also be present on the rally stage and will be shown on the video boards during the rally.
