“Cupid’s Chokehold” is the 2005 pop hit from pop group Gym Class Heroes featuring Patrick Stump from group Fall Out Boy. The song interpolates Supertramp’s 1979 “Breakfast in America”, which was written by Roger Hodgson, with GCH member Travis McCoy writing the rest of their version of the classic hit. The track first appeared on their 2005 “The Papercut Chronicles” album and then once again in 2006 on their “As Cruel as School Children” album.

“Cupid’s Chokehold” details the story of a man who consistently falls for different women, calls up his parents to convince that each woman is his perfect match, almost mocking his ability to fall in love so easily and quickly.

There were two versions of music video, with the second version being the most well known and popular. Uploaded to the Fueled By Ramen YouTube channel, the video shows McCoy spending time with various women, falling in love with them as a baby cupid shoots arrows at McCoy. At the end of the video, McCoy sings to Katy Perry (who was McCoy’s girlfriend at the time, and is rumoured to be the inspiration behind the track) and they end up happily together. As of late January 2021, the video has almost 102 million views and 750 thousand likes.
