Who Sings The Theme Song From The Ranch

For fans of the late country singer Ed Bruce, there are still ways to listen to his work.

Besides the obvious of streaming his music or watching his videos, every time you turn on the Netflix show, “The Ranch,” you’ll remember the artist.

The singer passed away at the age of 81 from natural causes on January 9.

His hit song “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” plays at the beginning of each episode. Some other popular Bruce songs are “You’re the Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had” and “Walker’s Woods.”

The song is a good indicator of the relationship between a father and a son, which is a key theme in “The Ranch.” The show is about the son of a Colorado rancher who returns home from his semi-pro football career. He runs the cattle ranch with his brother. It stars Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson, Sam Elliot, and Debra Winger.

Which Version of the Song is in ‘The Ranch?’

The song “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” was originally recorded by Ed Bruce. He and his wife Patsy Bruce wrote the song together in 1975. It reached No.15 on the Hot Country Singles charts.

Then Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson covered the song in a 1978 duet album called “Waylon & Willie.” This version reached No.1 and spent four weeks at the top of the country charts. It was 42 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also won Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group Voice at the 1979 Grammys.

Now, however, Waylon Jennings’s and Willie Nelson’s sons recorded the duet together. Shooter Jennings and Lukas Nelson are the voices behind “The Ranch” theme song.

Their version of the song premiered with the 2016 debut of the show. The show features other country artists from Curb Records, a Nashville-based label. Lukas Nelson is well-known for his involvement in the “A Star is Born” soundtrack.

He has also gone on tour with Neil Young and his band Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real. Other artists on the show are Lee Brice, Wyonna & The Big Noise feat. Jason Isbell, Filmore, Love and Theft, and Dylan Scott.

‘The Ranch’ Controversy Regarding Actor Danny Masterson

The show is controversial after Danny Masterson continues to face accusations of sexual assault by several women.

The legal battle is currently underway. According to The New York Times, the actor is being accused of raping three women in the early 2000s. He is charged with three counts of rape by force or fear and will face 45 years to life in prison if he is convicted.

“The Ranch” fired him in 2017.

The Church of Scientology allegedly pressured the women to stay silent. The victims must use Scientology church judges in the trial now. They signed a binding agreement while involved with the church that requires this to be the case under any kind of controversy or dispute.
