Who Was God’s Favorite Son

“He predestined us to be adopted through Jesus Christ for Himself, according to His favor and will, to the praise of His glorious grace that He favored us with in the Beloved. We have redemption in Him through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:5-7, HCSB).

I have two brothers and a sister. Growing up, my mother sometimes told me that I was her smartest and best-looking son and that I was her favorite. I must have believed her because I still think I’m smarter and better looking than my two brothers!

Now, she probably told my siblings the same thing, that each of them was her favorite. But, I still think I certainly must have been her favorite son!

Recently, one of my friends told me that she was God’s favorite child. She knew she was God’s favorite because He somehow orchestrated the lives of those around her in such a way as to enable her to accomplish His plans and purposes for her life! It seemed to her that His plans for her were also His plans for everybody else.

As I reflected on her declaration, I realized that’s also the way God deals with me! God has a destiny for me. He orchestrates my life in such a way as to enable me to accomplish His plans and purposes. And God uses the people around me to help me make this happen.

So I must be God’s favorite child!

God treats us each one of us like we are His favorite daughter or son. He orchestrates our lives and the lives of those around us in such a way as to enable us to accomplish His plans and purposes for our lives.

Yes, you are the favored child of the Most High God! He has been planning for you to be His child for all eternity. He has redeemed you to Himself by bestowing on you all of the grace that He has to give. Because He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, for you.

And, as His highly favored child, He has a plan for your life in this world and the world to come. It’s your destiny! And God wants you to believe it and receive it!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)
