Who Was Kicked Off Dancing With Stars Tonight

RTE viewers were left “devastated” after Katja Mia was eliminated from Dancing With The Stars.

Things heated up majorly on the hit RTE show tonight with only six celebrities left in the competition.

Loraine Barry, Brian Redmond and Arthur Gourounlian were back to give their professional and tough-talking reviews and scores tonight.

Katja Mia was unfortunately eliminated tonight after facing the dreaded dane-off against Blu Hydrangea.

The Six O’Clock Show host and her pro partner Ervinas Merfeldas had performed the salsa to Dua Lipa’s Levitating.

Speaking after her the judges voted her out, she said: “I kind of feel numb right now but I just have to say thank you to everyone involved in Dancing With The Stars.

“It’s been the most incredible journey. I think I surprised myself with how long I’ve lasted. It’s a memory I won’t forget.”

RTE viewers didn’t think Katja deserved to go tonight or be in the bottom two.

Sue said: “She’s one of the best dancers and she’s eliminated? It’s just annoying.”

Maire wrote: “Poor Katja, really doesn’t deserve to be leaving tonight, Arthur’s comment said it all.”

Another viewer commented: “Three 10s means diddly. Shock dance off.”

Paula wrote: “I’m devastated. Katja was better tonight in my opinion.”

Eavan added: “Absolute joke that Blu and Katja are in the bottom two. The two weakest dancers are just breezing through the competition with the popularity vote.”

Earlier on in the night, the Virgin Media star had really impressed the judges as Brian expressed how much he “appreciated” her.

He said: “You do something that very few people do – you make difficult things look easy. You have such naturalism to what you do. I think it’s a fabulous talent and I think it’s hugely appreciated.

“That salsa was as natural salsa as I’ve seen anywhere in such a long time. You keep that going because I appreciate what you do.”

Loraine said: “You are that girl that has that rhythm. Your smile is infectious.”

Arthur added: “The way you move your body is amazing. It’s so natural. You gave us a salsa masterpiece.”

Katja was shocked as she got a score of 28 points.

PERFECT SCORE

International Drag star Blu Hydrangea with partner Simone Arena did a quick step to Beyonce’s Texas Hold Em’.

And while Blu said he “struggled” this week, he still managed to wow the judges.

Brian said: “I expected more and you delivered more. That dance was gorgeous.”

They also got a perfect score of 30 points from the judges.

Paralympian Jason Smyth and Karen Byrne kicked off the night with a jive to RUNAWAY by OneRepublic.

The athlete impressed the judges completely as Loraine said: “Great steps, the kicks, flicks, it was all very good.

“Sometimes a few little steps got missed out on along the way but from start to finish you completed it.”

DOING HER THING

Arthur remarked: “That was fire! You gave the performance that I knew you had in you. Tonight the inner dancer came out of you.”

While Brian added: “There’s still a little work to be done. But a really good jive, well done.”

The pair got a total of 23 points.

Next up was 2FM’s Laura Fox and Denys Samson who performed the Charleston to Basement Jaxx’s Do Your Thing.

The judges were on their feet by the end of their show-stopping performance with the crowd going wild.

Arthur said: “Foxy, you really did your thing – and I’m speaking on behalf of everybody here. You were flying through it.”

‘BOX OFFICE SUCCESS’

Brian said: “Strawberries and cream, fish and chips, cabbage and bacon, some things just go together and Laura Fox and Charleston are another perfect combination. A tasty Charleston.”

Loraine added: “The lifts were absolutely fantastic. It was very clever. The swivels were absolutely accurate. I just see this as a box office success.”

The pair got a perfect score of 30 point from the judges.

Jockey Davy Russell and his partner Kylee Vincent followed with a spicy cha cha cha.

Davy received mixed reviews from the judges but they were overall happy with his energy and hips.

PERFECT COMBO

Loraine said: “Well it just sounds like the perfect combination, you have a margarita, you put on a great song and then you can hear that rhythm coming out.

“Now I have to stay the legs were a little bit stiff. It wasn’t quite fluid but I know you gave it your all and you kept the beat going all the time.”

Arthur added: “There’s no stopping you. You had that cha cha cha moment that we needed. You definitely captivated my attention.

He got 21 points from the judges.

Wild Youth singer David Whelan and partner Salome Chachua performed the Paso Doble to Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin.

Brian said: “90% of it I was really thrilled with.”

Loraine added: “You could just feel the energy coming from you.”

They got 28 points.
