Who Went Home On The Voice Tonight

Tanner Massey and Lennon VanderDoes

It was the first night of the Battles for season 24 of The Voice on Tuesday night as the coaches paired their artists against each other in duets to see who would make it to the three-way Knockout Rounds.

Reba McEntire, John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Niall Horan will each have two Saves to use during the Battles, and with so many four-chair turns this season, there should be a lot of stealing going on!

Battle Round 1: Deejay Young vs Ephraim Owens from Team Legend

Song: “Cry Me a River” by Justin Timberlake

Winner: Deejay Young

John said, “Both of these guys are such talented performers. Deejay is such a great tenor. His background as a musical theater artist has helped him be really flexible and show up. I think Deejay is definitely going to be a threat in the Knockouts because his voice is so good and he can do anything.”

Battle Round 2: Jordan Rainer vs Jackson Snelling from Team Reba

Song: “The Heart Won’t Lie” by Reba McEntire and Vince Gill

Winner: Jordan Rainer

Reba said: “Jackson and Jordan are two of my favorites. Jordan is so different from anybody else on any of the coaches’ teams. She’s witty, she’s perky and it takes talent and a unique personality to go forward. That’s why I kept Jordan.”

Battle Round 3: Lennon VanderDoes vs. Tanner Massey from Team Niall

Song: “She’s Always a Woman” by Billy Joel

Winner: Lennon VanderDoes

Niall said: “Something deep down in my gut said Lennon. I’ve always been attracted to really interesting tones. Nobody in this competition has a tone even remotely near him and that makes him a very, very dark horse.”

Steal: Tanner Massey

Both John Legend and Gwen Stefani went for the Steal. Tanner picked Gwen.

Gwen said, “You have something in you that you’re showing us that we want more of. I can help you bring even more of that. I’m a mother of three boys. I have a son about your age who’s a singer. I feel like I can hug you into the winning spot.”

Then when Tanner picked her, she added, “I have had my eye on Tanner since the Blinds. Being his age [19] and being able to command the stage and have that confidence was so exciting to see. I beat John Legend. I can’t believe I have Tanner on my team. It’s so crazy.”

The Blinds will continue next Monday at 8 p.m. ET/PT when The Voice returns to NBC.
