Who Won The St Jude Home

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The winner of the brand new 2023 St. Jude Dream Home was announced Thursday.

Tickets sold out this year for the Shelbyville home, valued at $495,000 with four bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms. The home has an open-concept design that showcases a large island kitchen, first-floor primary suite with private bath, a large walk-in closet and a soaring two-story family room.

The winner – Beverly Hughes – from Versailles, Ky., had purchased five chances to win the home, and it paid off. Her name was drawn on WDRB Mornings Thursday at 9:10 a.m., but she was caught by surprise when she got a phone call from St. Jude’s Ventara Massey on live TV immediately after the drawing.

“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” Hughes said after she received the news. “Oh my gosh!”

“This is no joke?” she asked several times. Hughes said she and her husband are both in their 70s with a daughter and grandchild. They plan to take the family to visit their new home this weekend. She said she isn’t sure what they’ll do with the new home at this point.

She said her motivation for buying the five tickets was to contribute to St. Jude, which she has been doing and continues to do.

“It’s just so sweet that she got her tickets, and she got them early, too,” Massey said. “So we just appreciate not only her supporting, but also being able to surprise her back with ‘You won a house!'”

Ticket sales raised $750,000. All of the money goes to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which covers all costs for kids and their families receiving medical treatment.

The house isn’t the only prize that was up for grabs. Other prizes included a $2,500 VISA gift card, a package that comes with a big-screen TV, surround sound system and pizza for a year, and a Nashville weekend getaway.

A list of secondary winners appears below:

$2,500 VISA gift card: David Bratt of Fort Knox

Big-screen TV, surround sound system and pizza for a year: David Neill of Louisville

Nashville Weekend Getaway: Robert Cook of Frankfort.
