BABY MODELING: IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?

If friends, family, and even strangers comment on how beautiful, happy, and smiley your baby is, it might be time to start thinking about getting your infant involved in modeling.

Baby Modelling Tips That Every Parent Should Know.

It is very important to find child modeling agencies that you trust. Look for agencies that specialize in working with children of your child’s age. I’ve provided a list of agencies below that have good reputations and work with babies and children. While this is not a complete list, it’s a place to start.

Avoid agencies that are trying to sell you expensive photo shoots for $600 or require you to take $1500 training classes. Legitement agencies work on a commission of 10%-20% depending on the location.

Babies do not need professional photos and overpriced classes for older kids are not something a child needs.

A lot of agencies use an online portal to submit their clients and there are a few different services out there. The larger agencies may offer this for free, and some may refer you to a third party. Most are inexpensive and should not cost more than $30 per month

All agencies will require you to fill out and submit an application form.

Applications will require current photos of your baby and some basic information. The photos do not need to be professional but do need to be clear. A simple, everyday solid or neutral color outfit works just fine. If an agency is interested, they will contact you. Do not keep contacting them.

You should be close to a major city, you have to be prepared to spend time traveling to and from photoshoots. Ensure you can commit to it, as agencies do not want to work with people who are flaky or who can’t make jobs.

A lot of agencies have a 3-day rule. If they contact you in regard to your application, an audition, or a job booking and don’t hear from you within that time, they will lose interest or even drop you.

This one may seem obvious, but your child must enjoy having their picture taken and being in front of the camera.

Pay. Our first print job paid $150 per hour for two hours. Another booking was for a film and we were on set for 1 day at $500 per day. This all varies on the client, length of shoot, and usage.

Expect rejection. There are a lot of cute kids out there and you can’t be overly sensitive. It can take time for your agent to find the right jobs for you.

A good agency should not mind for you to check in and see how things are going.
