Part 1) Try this first, before you design the game!
Go to the Who’s Your Daddy? Website, and do the Intermediate Solution. Solve (on your own paper) which baby belongs to which set of parents.
Part 2) Design your own Who’s the Daddy? game!
1) Draw a picture of a Baby with 2 of the characteristics from the following list:
- Ear Lobes: Free (E), Attached (e)
- Tongue Roll: Can roll (R), Can’t roll (r)
- Widow’s Peak: Has peak (P), no peak (p)
- Freckles: has freckles (F), no freckles (f)
- Dimples: has dimples (D), no dimples (d)
- Chin: cleft chin (C), smooth chin (c)
2) List the genotype and phenotype for the baby underneath its picture.
3) Draw a picture of the baby’s Mother. Include the same 2 characteristics, and list Mom’s genotype and phenotype. The traits expressed don’t have to be the same as the baby, but make sure that genetically, it could be hers. (Meaning, if baby has two recessive genes, Mom has to have a recessive gene, too.)
4) Draw pictures of 3 possible Dads with the same 2 characteristics as Baby and Mom. List Dad’s genotype and phenotype under its picture. Make sure ONLY one Dad could genetically be the father.
5) On a separate sheet of paper, do a total of 6 Punnett squares: two for each Dad – one for each characteristic, showing the possible babies to prove Who’s the Daddy!
6) Turn in! Make sure it’s readable – tomorrow, your “Who’s the Daddy” game will be given to another student in class for them to solve.
