Throughout the world, South Korea is known for its drinking culture. This is portrayed through K-Dramas, MVs, movies, and etc. Due to cultural and society norms, it’s not unusual to hear stories of our favorite K-Pop idols going out for drinks with friends or staff. Many idols are even asked in interviews about their drinking tolerance and if they have a special drinking habit.
Despite these societal norms, some idols prefer to avoid drinking, even when they’re with their closest of friends. Whether it’s due to health concerns or their own choice, these idols do their absolute best to stay way from consuming little to no alcohol at all. But the list doesn’t end there! So here’s part 2 of male K-Pop idols who choose to remain alcohol free!
1. SEVENTEEN’s WooZi

WooZi might be an amazing vocalist and accomplished producer, but if there’s one thing that he is not good at, it’s drinking. It was mentioned on “SVT Club” that the idol actually has somewhat of an allergic reaction to alcohol, causing his face to become extremely flushed. Although he doesn’t consume alcohol, WooZi still joins in on the fun of drinking games, with fellow member S.Coups drinking on his behalf if he loses. It’s great that WooZi can still have fun while choosing to be alcohol free!
2. UP10TION’s Lee JinHyuk
While many idols might not drink due to preference, JinHyuk’s case is completely health-related. The renowned idol was born with a heart disease in which his heart valve did not function properly. He was able to receive treatment early on and his heart condition improved greatly during his time as a trainee. But due to this, JinHyuk is unable to drink, smoke, or have caffeine. We hope JinHyuk remains healthy and able to stand on stage for many more years to come!
3. PENTAGON’s HongSeok
HongSeok is widely known for his toned body and killer vocals. But fans also know the idol for his extremely low alcohol tolerance. While singing a song during a live stream, he even changed the lyrics from ‘alcohol’ to ‘cider’. HongSeok then states afterwards that he did so because he does not drink. What a cute way for the idol to declare that he’s alcohol free.
4. BaekHo
BaekHo is another idol known for his muscular body, amazing vocals, and low alcohol tolerance. Because of this, he rarely drinks. Even during a radio appearance, the beloved idol shared that he doesn’t like to drink and instead chose Coke Zero as his beverage of choice. Luckily, his friends don’t force him to drink and instead leaves him to enjoy the food meant to compliment the beer, soju, etc. Trading a hangover for a food coma sounds like a great tradeoff for BaekHo!
5. SUPER JUNIOR’s DongHae

DongHae is a veteran in the K-Pop scene and has gained much experience as a top-tier idol. But if there’s one thing he does not have experience in, it’s alcohol — but there’s good reason for it! DongHae actually made a promise to his father that he would not drink. And the legendary idol has been keeping that promise ever since. Apart from the promise with his dad, he even states that his mother would scold him too! Any parent would be proud to have a son like DongHae.
6. Stray Kids’ Bang Chan
It was previously revealed that the entire group made a promise not to drink during their debut year, in order to focus on their career. Now that they’ve past that point, some members have resumed drinking, while others have taken their first sips of alcohol. However, Bang Chan remains the resilient leader and still does not consume alcohol. Even the bottle of gin he received as a gift from Ryan Reynolds remains unopened and untouched. The willpower that Bang Chan has is certainly unmatched!
7. ASTRO’s Rocky
Rocky is a complete all-rounder, exceling in dance, rap, and vocals! But if there’s one thing he might not be good at, it’s drinking. During a live stream, he states that he does not drink. Instead of a can of beer or a glass of soju, he prefers to have carbonated drinks, such as cider, after a hard day at work. Looks like Rocky is onto something — that sounds like a refreshing way to end the day!
