Hailstones are among the 6 families whose lifestyles are documented in the National Geographic reality series Life Below Zero.

Living what many consider a primitive life in this modern era has made Hailstone a household name. A word of advice: you don’t even want to say anything discriminating for his fan audience, you might be seriously nuts. Follow us as we try to unveil a truth about this American fighter.

Biography Chip Hailstone, Children

Sir. Chip was born Edward V Hailstone in 1969 in Kalispell, Montana to Daniel Franklin Hailstone and Mary Lois Hailstone. Chip was also raised in Kalispell, where he learned the trade and skills of hunting and fishing.

In his late teens, 19 to be exact, which would be 1988, Hailstone visited Alaska. As fate would have it, Chip’s visit soon turned into an unplanned permanent stay in Noorvik, a small town of about 700 people.

After spending a few years in Noorvik, Hailstone met fellow hunter Agnes, an Alaskan native of Inupiat. The couple went from friends to lovers and later married. Their exact wedding date is unknown, however, judging by the ages of their children who also feature in Life Below Zero, Chip and Agnes likely tied the knot in the mid-1990s.

Agnes was born in 1972 and is therefore only 3 years younger than her husband. Together, the couple share 5 children together, they are girls; Tinmiaq, Iriqtaq, Mary, Caroline and Qutan.

The Hailstone girls, though actively playingparts of the family way of life, did not neglect their academics. Iriqtaq graduated from high school in 2015 and then continued his education. Both Mary and Iriqtaq were active athletes in school. She went on to captain her team’s basketball team in her freshman year. Iritaq has a child that makes his father Chip a grandfather.

Also, Agnes had two sons from her previous relationship, they are Douglas and Jon. They are also full time hunters. The eldest, Douglas, born in the 1980s, is married to Gloria Iyatunguk and they have five children. Jon is also married with children.

Although the family mainly lives near Noorvik Kobuk River, the hailstones migrate seasonally so as not to miss the best of nature. In addition to eating the game they hunt, hailstones also utilize the inedible part of their game by processing it into crafts and arts which they trade for a living. Most of their trade, however, is done by barter.

Unfortunately, Chip Hailstone found himself on the wrong side of the law. In a case that dates back to July 2011, Chip was convicted of two counts of perjury and providing false information to police officers.

As a result, he was sentenced to serve three years of probation. After years of appealing his fifteen-month sentence behind bars raising five statements of error, he lost and had to face his conviction. Chips would be incarcerated in the Anchorage Correctional Complex beginning in 2018.

According to his interview with the ArcticSounder, Chip said the officer held his daughter in a restraint position after he held her hands out to him while speaking. However, another soldier, Gordon Young, said in the indictment that he disputed Chip’s claims. Chip also told the media that the soldier’s actions made him fear for his life, as well as that of his family.

On behalf of his daughter, Chip filed a restraining order against the soldier. However, despite his appeal, he was still found guilty of perjury. Many of his fans have expressed disappointment at Chip’s conviction, saying the length of incarceration is unfair. However, while he is serving his sentence, his family would continue the series without him.
