Abby let Ellie live TWICE.
She wouldn’t have been in the right anyway to kill her the first time, BUT it would’ve been the smart thing to do seeing as how she should’ve assumed Ellie would’ve been out for blood after watching her kill Joel. Abby put all of her friends in danger by letting Ellie live then, and she knew that.

The second time, letting Ellie live after she killed Owen and Mei? She did it completely out of compassion for Lev because of how he views the world and hated violence. But she put Lev in danger by letting Ellie live again (I mean, I would like to say Ellie wouldn’t kill Lev, but it gets to a point where you just don’t know and Abby definitely couldn’t possibly know), and she knew that.

I love Ellie. I get the protective way she’s viewed but I’ll never understand how people emotionally intelligent enough to understand the complex emotions and emotional responses to these complicated issues and impossible decisions can just view Abby as a monster.
She killed Joel to avenge her father and probably in some way all of humanity since they think he ruined the only chance at a vaccine, and it was brutal. They’re all brutal. Ellie is brutal. They’re children born into an apocalypse.

The thing that makes Part 2 great is that Ellie and Abby are the same. They think the same. They suffered the same loss. Their worlds parallel each other perfectly.
I’m so excited for season two, and I feel so bad for people their story was wasted on.
But no matter how one feels about Abby (at the end of the day, emotions aren’t rational. I get some people understand it all but don’t care cause they love Joel, she killed him, they want her dead lol okay), it was no excuse to attack her face model or Laura Bailey and it’s not going to be a good reason to attack the actress who plays her next season. I really hope we don’t have to go through this shit again next year.
