The first episode of Variety’s new docuseries My Comedy Journey features Gabriel Iglesias, otherwise known as Fluffy, and introduces fans of the comedian to the fact of his relationship with – and breakup from – actress Claudia Valdez.
Episode one marks the 25th anniversary of the start of Fluffy’s career.

During it, he reminisces about the origins of his act and talks, among other things, about his relationship with his childhood neighborhood in Long Beach, California.
He made history as the first comedian to ever perform at Dodger Stadium, which Netflix subscribers will soon be able to watch in the upcoming special, Gabriel Iglesias: Stadium Fluffy Live from Los Angeles.

Who is Gabriel Iglesias’ former partner, Claudia Valdez?
Valdez is an actress, although little about her professional life is publicly known.
She appeared in the 2010 British science-fiction horror film Monsters, starring Scoot McNairy and Whitney Able. Valdez is credited as having played a nurse in a maternity ward, alongside actor Aris Martinez.
Since Monsters, she doesn’t appear to have been in any other major productions.

According to The Sun, she may have been in a relationship with Iglesias as early as two years before Monsters came out in 2010.

Did they ever marry?
Apparently not. Gabriel Iglesias and Claudia Valdez were first seen together at an event in 2008, per The Sun.
She and Fluffy never married, and therefore never divorced, but they were in a long term relationship that ended in July 2020.
They were both living in California – Iglesias says in the Variety docuseries episode mentioned above that he doesn’t ever want to leave the city he grew up in.
The Sun also mentions Iglesias’ struggles with depression and alcoholism and the “impact” these had on his family. People reported in June 2020 that the “stress of balancing work and family took its toll” on Iglesias. “Everything fell apart,” he told the outlet. GRV Media has contacted Iglesias’ team with regard to these reports.

Did they have any children together?
Gabriel Iglesias does not have any biological children of his own.
However, he and Claudia raised her son Frankie – from a previous partner and now in his mid 20s – together. People added in 2020 that Gabriel and Frankie still had a “strong relationship.”

Now single, home is “different” for him. “I can focus on myself,” he told the outlet. “My career, my kid and my dogs.”
During a short Life With Fluffy video titled How I Ended My 2019, Iglesias talks about having issues at home “many years ago.”
His girlfriend at the time apparently used to invite her friends round and they would take up all the parking spaces. Iglesias mentioned this grievance during a show at Microsoft Theater, and received a parking spot at LA Live, next door to the Staples Center, soon afterwards.

Gabriel Iglesias is one of six children
And the youngest, according to his bio on the Fluffy Guy website.
He grew up primarily in Long Beach, California, in a single mother household. In order to “deal with the obstacles he faced” as a child, Fluffy developed a “strong sense of humor.”
And in 1997, he set out to hone his act.
In 2018, he was one of the top 10 paid comedians in the world. He’s now 46 years old.
