Why Did L For Lee Go To Jail

A 16-year-old youth terrorised his “surrogate aunt” in a sick Facebook campaign.

Lee Carson went to the Irvine woman’s house where he used a pair or her pants to perform a sex act before hiding them in her bedroom.

The teenage tormentor went on to send her a Facebook message telling her where the soiled underwear could be found.

Carson – formerly of Gottries Road, Irvine, but now living in Bognor Regis – pleaded guilty to two charges of engaging a course of conduct causing fear and alarm.

His victims were the family friend, aged 52, and an 18-year-old school pupil.

The offences date back as far as December 2013 when Carson was only 14 years old.

His first target was the younger woman whom he snared using a Facebook friend request in the false name of ‘Michael Duffy’.

He continually pestered her for a picture which he said he wanted for his “w*** bank”.

When she told him she was disgusted, she received another Facebook message stating: “I know you and I would do anything to make you scream.”

Carson also sent her obscene photographs of himself.

He told the teenager that he had spoken to her previously and referred to “walking behind her in the street and her being unaware of his presence”.

Carson moved to Bognor Regis following the string of incidents

The communication only stopped when she threatened to report the matter.

The young woman was described in court as “increasingly anxious about her personal safety” – particularly when she was at school, because she suspected that another pupil was responsible.

She eventually reported the matter at Irvine Police Office in March this year.

The court heard that, in February 2014, the older woman also received a Facebook friends request from ‘Michael Duffy’.

A few days later she began to receive sexually explicit messages.

In particular, Carson told her he “had removed a pair of red pants, smelling them and being aroused by them”.

And told her he had secreted them behind a set of drawers.

The alarmed woman sent her son to look and he found the underwear where Carson had said it would be.

Carson later sent the woman an obscene picture of himself and told her: “I want to give you this.”

It was then that she told him she was contacting the police.

Police officers initially had difficulty in tracking Carson down as he had deleted the Michael Duffy Facebook account.

They later received information that he might be responsible and he was interviewed at a police station in England. Carson was identified through DNA.

In parts of a victim impact report read to Sheriff Shirley Foran, the woman spoke of being a very close friend of Carson’s mother who had described her as “a surrogate aunt for all she had done for Lee”.

He had been in her home on numerous occasions and had even been on holiday with her family.

Carson’s actions had affected not only her health, but that of her own 17-year-old son. Carson, she said, was “a danger to others”.

Sheriff Foran deferred sentence until September 22 and called for criminal justice social work report and a risk assessment.

The sheriff will also deal with a prosecution move to have Carson placed on a sexual offences prevention order.

Such an order would severely restrict his access to computer technology and the internet, as well as barring him from any unsupervised contact with anyone under 16.

Since the story broke, Carson’s ‘fans’ and online friends have tweeted their shock at the case.
