Nope, it’s the menu at Willie and Korie Robertson’s Willie’s Duck Diner, which the family hopes will become a culinary tourist destination in Louisiana and their hometown West Monroe.

“There is duck at the Duck Diner, but not any that I killed,” Willie Robertson said during a ribbon cutting Thursday at the West Monroe restaurant. “But some of the recipes were perfected with ducks we hunted.”

The signature Duck Commander sandwich features fried duck tenderloin strips, while Missy’s duck bites are stuffed with jalapenos, cheddar and cream cheeses and wrapped in bacon.

Fans as well as locals were already flocking to Duck Diner Thursday, scoring sides of Miss Kay’s fried okra and unexpected selfies with the stars.

“I’ve talked to people from California and Iowa already,” Korie Robertson said. “It’s an exciting project for us, especially to be here in our home state and hometown.”

As for the food, Willie said the restaurant’s staff, managed by partner Marco Moran, took some tips from his parents.

“We’ve done some extensive food training,” Willie Robertson said. “(Restaurant manager) Miss Rose took some of the staff to Phil’s and Kay’s house.

“Phil did a tutorial on frying shrimp the way he likes it and mom went over her dishes as well.”

Willie’s favorite: “I’d have to get Phil’s swamp catch,” an appetizer that includes fried duck tenderloin, local catfish, Gulf shrimp and Miss Kay’s’ fried okra spears.

Korie touted Sadie’s crawfish etouffee with Louisiana crawfish and a side of sweet tater casserole. “It’s really like a dessert,” she said of the casserole.

But someone with a real sweet tooth shouldn’t pass up Miss Kay’s banana pudding.

“It’s designed for both tourists who want to identify with the show and Louisiana and for locals who just want a good spot to eat with friends,” Willie said.

Alana Cooper, president of the Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the Robertsons and their brand have elevated tourism in northern Louisiana.

“It’s still flowing,” Cooper said. “We’re still seeing a ton of inquiries and social media that show us the Robertson brand attracts visitors. It’s been fantastic.”

State Sen. Mike Walsworth said no amount of money could generate a marketing campaign to match the Robertsons’ draw.

“It’s that there are real places in West Monroe and Monroe and other spots of Louisiana featured in the show,” said Walsworth, R-West Monroe. “People want to see those places that they’ve seen on the show and connect with the Robertsons in that way.”
