4) It’s all about the lyrics! Words. Rap emphasizes that melody never hurt, but it isn’t the main focus. Often enough rappers use the lyrics in a song to praise family, friends and supporters who have helped them along the way. Rap has a strong tendency to promote loyalty.

5) You don’t always have to identify with the content of the songs. That isn’t the point. Not everyone walks the same path, but being able to experience another person’s life through music is powerful to say the least. Plenty of people strive to support diversity and want to have an open-mind, well rap can help you get there. Just listen.

6) ALL THE FEATURES. You never know which one of your favorite music artists are going to collab with your favorite rapper. Rap can flow with almost any voice or sound, which is a huge reason collaborations in the genre are incredible and can help rap transcend the limitations put on music genres.

7) The beats are indescribable and can match any mood or emotion. If I want to get my homework done, there’s a playlist for that. If I’m reading and it’s a quiet night, I definitely have a chill vibes playlist. Car jams are a must, and rap fits into that, too.
