Seth Rollins’ lengthy feud with CM Punk threatened to boil over after the latter made a dramatic return to the WWE.
Punk was mobbed by fans when he appeared at Survivor Series in his native Chicago to end his bitter nine-year exile from WWE.

However, fan footage later showed that his return didn’t draw the same reactions out of Rollins as it did from the partisan crowd.
The Architect, who had competed in the men’s WarGames match, was captured showing the middle finger to the ex-WWE Champion.
Some fans interpreted the obscene gesture as Rollins’ attempts to start a kayfabe rivalry with Punk who remains a huge star.
However, there has been real-life animosity between the two wrestlers that has festered for years.

Punk was once seen as a mentor to Rollins, having claimed to have been the brains behind the latter’s group, The Shield.
Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose – before he left for AEW – were three stars from WWE’s development brand NXT that became the most dominant main roster stable of the modern era.
The trio mysteriously debuted at Survivor Series in 2012 and helped Punk retain his WWE title by attacking his opponent Ryback.
Punk admitted Rollins, along with the future Jon Moxley, were in his initial picks for the Hounds of Justice, with WWE management later adding in Reigns.
Rollins himself has since admitted that the former UFC star helped his career a lot in his early stages.
However, their epic fallout long after Punk left the company seemed to arise when the latter became a pundit on the WWE Backstage show in 2019.

Rollins took exception to several of Punk’s views, with barbs exchanged between the pair on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In response to the Kingslayer calling for a match, Punk told WWE Backstage: “I want my journalistic integrity to be intact, so this isn’t the show where you come on and shoot your little angles.
“Seth (Rollins) needs to stop tweeting and realize that sometimes it’s better to be viewed as the fool and shut your mouth, or open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
Earlier this year, the Messiah lashed out at Punk again after the latter was suspended following reports of a legitimate altercation with AEW executives Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks after AEW All Out in 2022.
Rollins labelled the Voice of the Voiceless a ‘cancer’ and pleaded for him to stay away from WWE.
Rollins then later expanded on the comments by calling the former AEW grappler self-centered.
