Aaron Rodgers has not sustained a serious eye injury in his recovery attempt from his opening week injury against the Buffalo Bills in the NFL, he was simply poking fun at AJ Hawk.
The New York Jets quarterback tore his Achilles ligament in his heel in what was expected to be a season-ending injury on September 11, 2023 but amazingly could be back training with the organization in a matter of weeks.

Whatever the nature of his injury and his rehabilitation, he didn’t lose his sense of humor as he mocked the sports analyst for an injury Hawk sustained by his son at home, which required him to wear an eye patch and glasses to appear on the show.
“Listen, with injuries that happen at the house there’s always some mystery,” Rodgers said on the show, teasing his friend. “Some shrouds of mystery around them, so I guess we’re going to have to take AJ’s word on this one, but it could be a bedroom mystery, that’s all I’m saying.”
When will Rodgers return?
As of week nine, when the Jets faced off against the Los Angeles Chargers in a 27-6 defeat, Rodgers was able to walk without crutches showing that he is regaining his strength in his foot.

But at his age, he will not rush back and it’s unlikely that the franchise will rush him back as they bid to squeeze the last few years out of his NFL career together. Immediately injuring the heel by rushing back could be catastrophic, and there is only one situation it might be worth the risk.
“Obviously, we’ve got to be in the mix [for the postseason], there’s no doubt about it,” Rodgers said on “The Pat McAfee Show”. “But more than that, I’ve got to be able to be healthy, to be able to move, to be able to protect myself, to be able to have strength in all the throws.”
As of Week 10, the Jets hold a 4-5 record (0.444) and sit third in the AFC East behind the Miami Dolphins (0.667) and the Bills (0.500), with their next fixture being against the Bills on Sunday, November 19.
