Why Is Building 21 Inactive

Warzone 2 DMZ’s Building 21 area never sticks around for long and has been disabled again, so here’s everything you need to know about exactly when Building 21 is set to return to DMZ.

Warzone 2 brought PvPvE extraction-based gameplay with DMZ, allowing players to explore Al Mazrah, loot equipment and gear, battle both other players and AI, and successfully exfil. The devs teased DMZ would take players to places other than Al Mazrah, and the first of these new locations arrived with Season 1 Reloaded.

Building 21 is a brand-new area outside of Al Mazrah, offering a high-risk but high-reward experience. While it wasn’t live at the update’s launch, it finally went live on December 19 but players were baffled when Infinity Ward announced it was disabled after only 24 hours.

It turns out that was all part of the plan, as it has returned and been disabled once again. So, here’s when Building 21 next returns to DMZ.

When does Building 21 return to DMZ? Date & time

Infinity War tweeted on January 3 that Building 21 missions have been temporarily “shut down” and scheduled infiltration will begin again on Friday, January 6, 2023. The in-game timer confirms it will return at 9 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 5 PM GMT.

During this time, players will need to gather as many DRC Building 21 Access Cards as they can before the area opens, as it will likely only be open for a limited time once again.

How long it will be around for this time remains to be seen, but with plenty of high-value rewards to earn, you don’t want to be wasting time scouring Al Mazrah for access cards when you could be in Building 21.

Why is Building 21 inactive in Warzone 2 DMZ?

Infinity Ward haven’t revealed why they keep disabling Building 21 in Warzone 2 DMZ, only that “our window to strike is limited,” and players will need to “wait for future deployments” if they miss out.

So, it appears Building 21 will be a limited-time area that comes back every so often, keeping the rewards elusive and secrets under wraps for even longer.

If Building 21 is disabled once again, we’ll be sure to keep you updated with its return date and time.
