Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, Gabbie (Rosario Dawson) is a single mother, and she and her precocious son, Travis (Chase W. Dillon), move in to Gracey Manor, hoping to restore it and call it home. However, they soon discover it’s haunted, and Gabbie enlists a team of “spiritual experts” to help get rid of the ghosts.
The team consists of New Orleans tour guide Ben Matthias (LaKeith Stanfield), priest Father Kent (Owen Wilson), psychic Harriet (Tiffany Haddish), and history expert Bruce Davis (Danny DeVito). They discover that the 999 spirits living there are being terrorized by the Hatbox Ghost (Jared Leto). In order to free the mansion from its curse, the Hatbox Ghost must be defeated.
Parents should know that Haunted Mansion contains mild language, scary thematic elements, and mature themes of grief and death.

If you can handle some creepy, then it’s a good introduction to scary movies. Parents may be most concerned about the heavy themes of grief and loss or the supernatural elements.
There are ghosts aplenty including skeletons, a deceased bride, and a talking head. Many characters are shown in peril. There are some graphic scenes, but nothing gory. Some characters have experienced painful deaths.

In Haunted Mansion you can expect some graphic imagery, scary and supernatural elements, lots of ghosts, and some mild language used by some characters. To sum it up, Haunted Mansion is kid friendly for kids ages 10 and older. Younger kids and tweens could also enjoy it if they like spooky films.
Haunted Mansion may be appropriately scary for kids, but not so much for adults. Come for the nostalgia and fan service of the Haunted Mansion attraction. This version is so much better than the 2003 Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy.
The all-star cast of 2023’s Haunted Mansion keeps the movie afloat, but lacks the charm and wit of the ride. It’s still a solid Halloween film for kids and teens.
