Here’s a theory that’s only half baked:
Kitty didn’t know that Puss didn’t show up to the wedding until she overheard him after his panic attack.

It would make sense that she wouldn’t know that bc she didn’t show up either but there’s one line that I think supports this very well. After Kitty nicks him during the shave when she brings up Santa Coloma, she says, “you had it coming.” I’ve been trying to figure out what she meant by that for ages and I think it finally makes sense in context of this theory. Besides his guilt, which she doesn’t know abt yet, Puss really didn’t have any consequences for not showing up. But if she thinks that he went and she left him at the alter, then it would make more sense. She left him bc he was a selfish asshole who would always put her second and, at this point in the story, he still has a lot of those qualities. She thinks that her not showing up is a consequence/lesson for those actions, what shes referencing to when she says he had it coming, but Puss has no idea what she’s talking abt bc he didn’t go either lol
But if Kitty thought that she was the one leaving him, why was she so angry when they met during the Horner heist? Probably bc he confirmed her worst fears that day, that he’ll always put her second. From her pov, it looks like Puss went to the church, saw she wasn’t there, and did not care. He didn’t send anyone after her, he didn’t try to find her, he didn’t even try to get in touch w her for years. As far as she can tell, he just shrugged and kept on being the legend, completely unaffected by her absence. Which then in turn reinforces her belief that she was right, he never really cared abt her.

After she finds out he didn’t go and feels terrible abt it, she instantly gets more forgiving and playful/flirty w him. Even at the end of the panic attack scene, she says it’s ok he lost the map even tho she was just furious w him for it a few minutes ago. She realized that him not coming after her was bc he didn’t know she wasn’t there, not bc he didn’t care abt her.
The only problem I’ve found w this is if Kitty genuinely thinks he went, her reaction when she found out he didn’t is a bit underwhelming. You think it would have more of an impact on her, disproving smth she thought to be true for years, but she just kinda goes “oh” and carries on.
