Why Is My Airpod Case Flashing Green

Apple’s AirPods are one of the most popular products on the market for wireless listening. With their convenient size and easy pairing, it’s no wonder why AirPods have become so popular. But even with all their convenience, AirPods can sometimes encounter problems. If you’re AirPods are flashing green, what do you do? I there a solution? Let’s find out.

A flashing green LED in your AirPods case isn’t as common as other AirPods issues, so diagnosing it can be challenging. But there are some steps you can take to try and troubleshoot this problem before taking them to the Apple store to apply the warranty.

Why are my AirPods flashing green?

Typically, a green light means that your AirPods are charged and ready to go, but if the LED is flashing green on and off and never stops or you notice one or both of your AirPods aren’t working, you have a problem. Usually, from what we have seen, one of the AirPods is working, and one is not, and sometimes it could be due to a charging issue.

Here is a list of solutions if your AirPods are flashing green:

1. Remove and reinsert your AirPods

The first and most straightforward solution is to try and remove your AirPods from your ears, put them back in the case, and then remove them again 30 seconds later. Sometimes this can help if there is a connection issue, as it will reset the connection between your AirPods and your device.

It’s like restarting a computer without deleting the information and set up to see if it works. Try it and see if the flashing green light goes away.

2. Make sure your AirPods and case are charged

As mentioned above, a green flashing LED can be related to charging or battery issues. To ensure this isn’t the problem, try charging your AirPods and case overnight or for at least a few hours with a wall charger. Avoid wireless chargers and ensure both AirPods charge correctly when you put them back in the case.

Keep in mind one AirPod battery drains faster than the other in many cases, so make sure both have enough power before using them, as it’s essential. Now that they’re fully charged, try taking them out of the case and listening to some music. Are your AirPods still blinking green once you pull them out of the case? Try taking one AirPod at a time and see if the green LED blinks only when 1 AirPod is out but not when the second one is out. If this is the case, you might have a faulty AirPod.

3. Reset your AirPods

If charging isn’t a viable solution, resetting your AirPods is another option. This will turn them off, delete all the data and settings, and start from scratch when you use them again. To do this, go to Settings -> Bluetooth -> tap on “i” next to your AirPods -> tap ‘Forget This Device.’

Now put them back in the case for about 30 seconds and press the back button until the LED flashes amber. Once that’s done, pair them back with your device like you did the first time and try them to see if the flashing green LED is gone.

Resetting most of the AirPod’s issues completely solves the problem. If this doesn’t work, try the following solutions.

4. Clean your AirPods

Remember how we have been saying that the battery is a common issue when you’re AirPods are flashing green? Another thing you can do to help troubleshoot the flashing green LED is to clean your AirPods.

This is useful if you have been using them for a while and the earbuds are clogged with wax, dirt, or dust, disturbing the physical connections. Ensure you clean the base and tail to guarantee they make contact correctly when you put them back inside the charger case.

To do this, gently use a dry cloth and wipe both earbuds. Don’t use liquid cleaners such as alcohol, which can damage your AirPods. Remember, your AirPods are not water-proof, and Apple doesn’t cover water damage in the warranty.

Don’t forget to clean the inside of the charging case as well. Ensure no debris is blocking the charging port or contacts before you put your AirPods back in. Try using a cotton swab and avoid pointy objects.

5. Update the firmware to the latest version

If your AirPods are still blinking green, you can try updating them to the latest firmware version available in your device settings. This is useful if you’ve been using your AirPods for a while and haven’t been updated with the newest features Apple releases periodically.

To do this, open Settings -> Bluetooth -> tap on “i” next to your AirPods, and there you can see the firmware version that your AirPods are running. While Apple only ships a firmware update or two every year, yours may still be running in an older, buggy version. Especially if your AirPods are new.

There’s no manual way to “force” a firmware update in your AirPods. However, Apple will automatically download and install the update if you put them back in their case and charge it via the lightning port while putting your iPhone/iPad next to them. Wait 15 to 30 minutes to see if the AirPods have been updated and recheck the firmware version.

6. Contact Apple support or take them to the store

If none of the solutions above worked, it’s time to contact Apple support or take them to an official Apple store. There may be a physical issue with your AirPods that can’t be fixed without actual help from Apple.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much you can do besides telling them the green LED flashed only when one AirPod was out of the case, and it didn’t happen when the other was out. Apple can quickly diagnose the problem and provide a solution if your AirPods are still under their warranty.

What are the most common AirPod problems?

Besides your AirPods blinking green, which isn’t a common issue, some of the most frequent AirPods problems are:

  • AirPods flashing orange
  • AirPods disconnect all the time
  • AirPods battery draining when not in use
  • The AirPods microphone is not working
  • AirPods not being loud enough
  • AirPods are connected, but no sound
  • AirPods case stopped charging

As you can see, there are a ton of AirPods issues that you can run into. Thankfully, most of them can be fixed easily with a good reset. Also, remember that the AirPods quality is still pretty good, and you only hear about these problems because they sell millions of units annually. Otherwise, they would be flying under the radar.
