A beeping noise coming from your Frigidaire refrigerator indicates that something is wrong with the refrigerator. The typical culprit is the door being left open; however other causes, such as a power failure or blocked ice maker chute, will also make the refrigerator beep. The solution to the beeping is usually a simple one, like closing the door or clearing the ice chute. In other cases, resetting the refrigerator, usually by disconnecting the power, will stop the beeping and return the fridge to normal.

1. A power failure
If there is a power failure, depending on your model, it may display a PF error code and will likely start beeping no matter which Frigidaire model you have.
When faced with this alarm and error code, the first step is to press the Alarm Reset button. Pressing the Alarm Reset button acknowledges to the refrigerator that you realize there was a power failure, and the beeping should now stop. Depending on your model, you may have a different button that stops the alarm, such as Set or Cancel.
If the alarm continues after you have pressed the Alarm Reset button, it is likely because the temperature inside the refrigerator is too hot because of the power failure. So, while you have cleared the power fault alarm, now you need to resolve the temperature alarm by giving the refrigerator time to reach its optimal temperature.
2. Temperature is too high
If the temperature within the refrigerator reaches 55 degrees Fahrenheit or greater, an alarm will activate. If the temperature in the freezer reaches 26 degrees Fahrenheit or greater, the alarm will also be triggered. Depending on your model, it may also display an H or HI error code.

When a temperature alarm is triggered, it will most likely be because the refrigerator door has been left open. However, it can also be triggered when there are too many or too few items in the refrigerator; a door seal is defective; the air vents are blocked; or there is a more serious issue with the compressor, condenser, evaporator, or thermostat.
Typically, beeping because of the temperature can be resolved by making sure the door is closed and then waiting for the temperature to stabilize. Disconnecting the power to the refrigerator for five minutes should also resolve the issue. If the alarm continues or returns at a later date, you will need to troubleshoot what is causing the alarm.
3. Door not closed
Most often, the refrigerator beeping is caused by the door being slightly ajar. This can be caused by items in the refrigerator stopping the door from being able to close, a broken door seal, a faulty sensor or door switch, or general carelessness.
The solution to stop the beeping is a simple one: make sure the refrigerator or freezer door is closed. If both doors are closed but the alarm continues, there may be another cause of the alarm, or the door sensor or door switch may be faulty. If the door switch or sensor is defective, it will need to be replaced to fix the issue.
4. Too many or too few items
Having too many or too few items in the freezer or refrigerator can cause the refrigerator to struggle to stabilize the temperature, which can trigger a temperature alarm. Too many items may also be stopping the door from closing or blocking air vents, which will also affect the temperature.
5. Defective door seals (gaskets)
Cracked, worn, or broken door seals will affect the temperature in the refrigerator and could also cause the door to not close correctly, which triggers the alarm. The door seals could also be dirty, potentially causing the same problems.
Give your door seals a good clean, and inspect them for damage. If a door seal is damaged, it will need to be replaced to fix the issue.
6. Air vents are blocked
Blocked or frozen-over door seals can also trigger an alarm as the refrigerator struggles to regulate the temperature. To fix the issue, make sure the air vents in both the refrigerator and freezer compartments are not blocked, and defrost any ice or frost that is restricting them.
If you have a lot of ice and frost in your refrigerator, it might be time to defrost your refrigerator. With items removed and the power disconnected, it should take 8-12 hours to defrost the refrigerator.
7. Ice stuck in the ice maker chute
With some Frigidaire models with an ice maker, an alarm can be triggered to warn that the ice maker chute is blocked. Checking your ice maker, defrosting, or removing any stuck ice will resolve the issue.
8. Defective or failing components
If the simple solutions to the beeping have failed to resolve the beeping, the compressor, condenser, evaporator, or temperature thermostat may have an issue. If any of these components are dirty or frozen over, the temperature in the refrigerator or freezer can become too hot and trigger the temperature alarm.
Check the components, giving them a clean or a defrost to solve the issue. If there is a more serious problem, you will need to troubleshoot the issue and possibly call a trained technician to fix the issue.
9. Faulty control board
If you are struggling to find the source of the issue, the refrigerator’s main control board may have a fault that is falsely triggering the alarm. Diagnosing a faulty control board requires a trained technician, although it can be inspected for signs of burning or damaged wiring.
Summary
Usually, pressing a button, like Alarm Reset or Set, or closing the refrigerator door will resolve the issue when a Frigidaire refrigerator is beeping. If that fails, a reset by unplugging the refrigerator for five minutes should stop the beeping. The other possible causes and solutions are discussed above.
Your owner’s manual should also be able to explain why the refrigerator is beeping. If you cannot find the manual, check the Frigidaire website to get a copy of the manual.
