Why Is My Primo Water Dispenser Leaking

Primo Water Dispenser Troubleshooting Guide: Solutions to 7 Popular Problems

Primo Water Dispensers are one of the best water dispensers available on the market currently. They are durable, economical and best suited for all your needs for home and office use.

Primo water dispensers, if cleaned and maintained properly, do not have any issues in their working. However, over time some problems can disturb them. If you are facing issues with Primo units like water leakage, water pump issues, hot and cold water issues, or a slow flow rate, then you don’t instantly need to call a professional for help.

For this, firstly, you need to identify the kind of water you treat and the pollutants you want to remove. All types of water are different based on their quality standard, and it decides the solution. You can get rid of these problems by yourself without wasting a single penny from your pocket. It is advisable to use some modern certified filter systems like NSF 53 certified water filters that meet all the standards.

In this troubleshooting guide, we are going to discuss how you can deal with such problems with Primo dispensers.

Water Leakage

Primo dispensers are made of high-quality materials that usually never trouble you. If your dispenser is leaking, it is probably due to a leaking water bottle. If you have checked the water bottle for any leaks and the dispenser is still leaking water, it can be due to mineral build-up inside taps. Mineral build-up requires to be cleaned thoroughly. The mineral build-up is a common phenomenon, and you don’t need to worry about it.

First of all, you need to switch off the control buttons at the back of the dispenser and then remove the main plug. You will need the following things to carry out the cleaning process

  • An empty bottle or a jar
  • Vinegar
  • Old toothbrush

Once you have removed the plug, take off the water bottle and empty the water in the reservoir. Open both the tabs and empty them. Add some vinegar to the bottle and fill it with water. 1/3rd portion of vinegar would be enough to mix with water in a 1-liter bottle. Fill the reservoir with this solution and let it rest for 10-15 minutes so it can act on the mineral build-up and remove it. If there is any mineral build-up on the taps, you can use the old toothbrush to clean it off. For better results, dip the toothbrush in the mixture you have just prepared. Wash the taps with clean water after doing it. Now flush both the taps completely and waste the water. Refill the water reservoir with fresh tap water and flush it again. Repeat this process a couple of times. Now load the bottle and take out a couple of liters of water from the bottle to ensure that no vinegar is left in the taps and pipes. Plug back your Primo and enjoy it.

If you still notice that water is leaking from your dispenser, there might be some cracks in the internal portion of the dispenser. You can contact the primo team or other professionals for help.

Pump Not Working

Hot water and Cold Water Issues – Water at Room Temperature

A majority of people face the problem of hot and cold water issues. You can solve this problem by using the following tips. However, if you still fail to get hold/cold water, you need to get professional help as it is due to some technical problem or compressor issues. Make sure you check hot and cold water dispensing one by one and not at the same time.

First of all, check that the main plug is properly plugged in and is not having a short circuit. Makes sure that hot and cold water buttons are not off and the power club is plugged in the socket at the back of the dispenser.

As s second option, check that the light of hot/cold water is turned on after reclogging, if it is not turned on, dispense a couple of glasses and wait for 5-10 minutes for the LED indicator to turn on.

You can also reset your dispenser by removing a couple of liters of water from it and giving it 24 hours to settle down. Plug-in the dispenser and turn on the buttons, wait for 3-4 hours and then try again.

Some of the dispensers have a problem in dispensing hot and cold water due to faulty wiring. Primo usually comes with high-quality wiring, but issues can happen in machines. Do not try to change or check wiring by yourself if you are not aware of its working. Call professionals to look into it. Still can’t fix your fault water dispenser? Maybe it’s time to get a new one! Waterfilterspot recently did a roundup of the best water dispensers. Check it out and purchase the perfect replacement for your faulty dispenser, and you might need a better water dispenser for home.

Water is not Dispensing from both Taps

If you are facing the problem of water not coming out from both the taps on your dispenser, it may be because of a faulty seal on a water bottle or an air-lock. The best way to deal with this problem is to check the water bottle before loading it carefully, or you can remove it and check the seal. To remove the air-lock, you need to remove the water bottle, empty the reservoir and then place the bottle back. If everything is fine now, you will hear water gurgling down the reservoir.

The dispenser is making too much Noise

If your dispenser is making too much noise, you need to check that it is placed on a flat surface. Primo dispensers are quiet in working.

Water is Tasting Bad

If you feel that the water taste has gone bad, clean the dispenser and clear off the reservoir in the water tank. Make sure you wash the reservoir twice with tap water. Cleaning the taps also helps in improving the taste of the water.

Water is Flowing Slow

If you are facing a slow flow rate, it is probably due to a mineral build-up inside the taps. You can use the same method we have described to solve the leaking problem to get rid of a slow flow rate. To solve related problems check at Best Bottom Loading Water Dispensers.

Cleaning the Dispenser – Helps in Avoiding Problems

Make sure you clean your dispenser every 3-4 months. While you are cleaning, do not remove the top cover of the dispenser as it is attached with a precision sealed gasket and it can result in leakage. If you are unable to deal with the problems mentioned above yourself, you can always give a call to Primo Team at 844.23PRIMO or contact at https://primowater.com/Support/ for further information.
