Why is ronaldo not in fifa 22 ? EA Sports has given Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo a significant downgrade on FIFA 22, affecting a number of his key attributes.
United striker Ronaldo has only scored one goal in his last eight appearances for United and failed to feature in Sunday’s 4-1 defeat against Manchester City in the Manchester derby. Reds boss Ralf Rangnick revealed in his pre-match interview that Ronaldo was not included in the matchday squad due to an issue with his hip flexor. It was later revealed that the Portuguese striker had flew to his home nation for two days before returning on Tuesday.

Former United captain Roy Keane was not convinced that the United star missed the clash against City due to an injury, insisting he does not “buy” what Rangnick said about Ronaldo’s injury. The Portuguese international returned to United’s Carrington training ground but the extent of his injury has yet to become clear.
Ronaldo has scored 15 goals in 31 appearances since his shock return to Old Trafford, but his recent form has resulted in EA Sports handing the 37-year-old a significant downgrade in FIFA 22’s latest squad update, impacting both his finishing and dribbling attributes.
So, what impact has Ronaldo’s downgrade had on his in-game attributes? These are how his attributes have been changed on FIFA 22, as of the latest squad update that was released on all platforms as of March 7, 2022.
Cristiano Ronaldo handed downgrade in FIFA 22 update
The Portuguese striker has simply not performed at a high level in recent weeks, resulting in the five-time Ballon d’Or winner being downgraded in a number of key areas on FIFA 22 in the latest update to the game. Ronaldo has suffered downgrades to his finishing (95-94), dribbling (88-86), agility (86-82), balance (74-72) and long shots (93-92).
Whilst the 37-year-old is still one of the best players available to use in FIFA 22, the downgrades to his dribbling may be noticeable for players as agility and balance are key attributes for attackers to be able to perform well in-game. The downgrade to Ronaldo’s finishing and long shots are expected given his poor goal scoring form of late.
The United striker has also been stripped of his Acrobat trait, meaning it is less likely that Ronaldo will perform overhead and bicycle kicks in-game. Whilst these types of finishes are rare, not having the option to perform these types of shots could see some players choose a different striker who can perform them.
Following the latest FIFA 22 squad update, Ronaldo now has a worse finishing stat than Lionel Messi, whilst also having worse dribbling, long Shots, composure, agility and balance attributes than the Paris Saint-Germain forward. Other Manchester United players to be affected by the latest FIFA 22 update are Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Elanga, David De Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic.
Fifa World Cup: Why Cristiano Ronaldo had to be dropped for Portugal’s clash against Switzerland
It says a lot about Cristiano Ronaldo’s star power that even a thumping 6-1 win for Portugal won’t take the focus away from him.
Ronaldo was sensationally dropped for Portugal’s round of 16 clash with Switzerland after a subpar World Cup in Qatar.
Goncalo Ramos justified the shock decision to drop Ronaldo by scoring a hat-trick on his full debut as Portugal demolished Switzerland 6-1 to power into the World Cup quarter-finals.

The 21-year-old Ramos, who started instead of Ronaldo, became the youngest player to strike three times in a World Cup knockout match since Pele in 1958.
Ramos has now scored three goals in the knockout stages of a World Cup, while Ronaldo has none across more than 500 minutes.
Now it seems unlikely Ronaldo will start Portugal’s quarter-final with Morocco, who knocked out Spain on penalties.
Portugal coach Fernando Santos said he was unimpressed with Ronaldo’s behaviour after he reacted badly to being substituted during the final group stage game against the Korea Republic.
“I didn’t like it at all. I didn’t like it at all,” Santos said before the Switzerland clash.
Speaking after the 6-1 win, Santos revealed why he dropped Ronaldo, saying it was “strategic and nothing more”.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world playing professionally and as a captain … so we have to just think about this team collectively,” he said.
Asked whether it was the most difficult decision of his career to leave out Ronaldo, Santos said: “I have a very close relationship I always have, known him since he was 19 at Sporting, and then for years here in the national squad,” he said.
“Ronaldo and I never confuse the human and personal aspect with the coach and player relationship. He is a very important player to have in the team,” he said.
Santos said he expected a “very difficult” game against Morocco in the quarter-finals but said his team were clearly in good form.
“If we can continue like this and improve some things then that is a good path,” he added.
But the truth is that Portugal look a better team without the 37-year-old forward.
Ronaldo came into the World Cup after a disjointed season with Manchester United, where he struggled to hold a place in the starting team.
It ended badly with his contract mutually terminated after he gave an explosive interview with Piers Morgan criticising the English club.
Now Ronaldo is in talks to sign a blockbuster deal with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr following his high-profile exit from Manchester United.

It says a lot about where Ronaldo is in his career that he’s headed to the Middle East on a big money deal.
His position at Portugal is similar to Gareth Bale at Wales during the World Cup.
Wales struggled with an ageing Bale no longer playing with the pace and power of his peak.
It’s the same with Ronaldo, with a Portugal team that includes Bernado Silva and Bruno Fernandes looking a better team without him.
The image of him walking straight off the field after the fulltime whistle wasn’t a great sign.
Ronaldo came on as a late substitute but walked straight off rather than celebrate with his teammates.
Former Manchester United teammate Gary Neville said the “sulking” from Ronaldo needs to stop.
“This is a manager who has got an unbelievable relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo for eight years and there are a lot of fans of Ronaldo who are not willing to tell him the truth,” Neville said on ITV before the game this morning.
“I think he does need to listen to the truth that it is becoming a little bit of a scruffy end … the petulance, the stomping around, the sulking, it’s got to stop because it does not reflect well on him at all.
“His long-term legacy is set, he is one of the great all-time players.”
They face a Morocco team that’s only conceded one goal in four games, so having a star like Ronaldo on your bench isn’t the worst thing in the world.
Ronaldo has done something that no other male player may ever repeat – he’s scored at five straight World Cups.
Even playing at five World Cups is an achievement because it means you’re an international player for at least 16 years.
His legacy as one of the greatest of all time is assured. But how he reacts to his dumping could have a big say in just how far Portugal goes at this World Cup.
