Travis “T-Bone” Turner needs prayers.
The beloved Bone Collector T.V. personality from Hogansville just announced publicly that he is fighting cancer, which will result in his right leg being amputated above the knee next week.

According to a post on Travis’s Facebook page yesterday, it all started in July 2021 when he asked a doctor about a spot on his right shin that popped up and grew to the size of the grape. It quickly advanced in size and was soon diagnosed as fibrosarcoma.
Travis recently posted to his social media pages: “It is a very rare type of cancer and extremely fast growing. There are only about 15,000 cases per year and the only way to get rid of it is to surgically remove it, and it also tends to move to the lungs next if not taken care of.”

By the end of October 2021, it was discovered that Travis had a 9 mm nodule on his left lung. By that time, he also had three tumors the size of softballs on his shin outside the skin, plus smaller tumors around that. It was at that time he started a very aggressive round of chemo.
Travis’s Feb. 1, 2022 post went on to say, “As the chemo treatments are winding down now and the CT scan shows no change in the size of the nodule on my lungs (which is a good sign), it’s time to remove the sarcoma from my right lower leg. The CT scan shows that the mass and tumors are so large and intertwined in my leg muscles and bone that there is no way to effectively remove the tumor and all the cancer, so I have to have my leg amputated above the knee next week.”
Travis won a weekly scoring period during the 2020 Georgia deer season and competed in the GON’s Truck-Buck Shoot-Out in August 2021.
For a few decades, Travis has been a contributor and friend to GON.

“His presence in last year’s Truck-Buck Shoot-Out was a real blessing for our company,” said GON‘s Daryl Kirby. “He had a dream season in 2020, killing a 152-inch buck with his bow in Week 2 and then capped off his Georgia season with a 171-inch buck with a muzzleloader in Week 5.
“Even though he was quietly battling this storm in his life during the Truck-Buck Shoot-Out, he spent extra time taking pictures and signing autographs for all of those who approached him. He’s a really outstanding guy, a great friend, and our prayers are certainly with him and his family at this time.”
Travis ends his post with, “Wanted to let you guys know what’s going on and also to think positive, smile and thank you in advance for all the well wishes and prayers. Love you guys.”
