What happened to TC on Magnum PI?
Played superbly by Stephen Hill, Theodore “TC” Calvin was shot twice in the chest by a masked assassin in episode 9 of Magnum PI season 5.
He miraculously managed to survive the attack but woke up in hospital in the following episode and was unable to move his legs.
The doctor explained that there is likely some swelling around the spinal cord and that with the right treatment and physical therapy, there is a “good chance” he may regain mobility.

Unsurprisingly, TC was less than convinced by the uncertainty of the doctor’s phrasing as he feared that he could be permanently paralyzed.

A long road ahead
Following Magnum PI’s lengthy mid-season break over the summer, the Hawaii-based series returned on October 4, with the new episode continuing to follow TC on his journey to recovery.
The episode picks up 12 days after he was shot and sees Shammy and Kumu help to move TC into a rehabilitation facility.
After initially believing he’s not as seriously injured as first thought, reality quickly hits and TC struggles with the limitations of his situation and realizes that the road to recovery will be a long one.
However, as the episode draws to a close and TC, Shammy and Kumu tuck into some takeout, Shammy notices that TC’s big toe is starting to wiggle ever so slightly.

TC’s ordeal in Magnum PI has certainly caught the attention of plenty of viewers, with many taking to social media to offer up their thoughts.
One fan on X (formerly Twitter), praised Stephen Hill’s acting, saying: “Oh TC. What great acting @StephenHillActs not that we expected any less.”
While this fan noted that Shammy could be a huge help in TC’s recovery: “Shammy is going to be so clutch for TC. So glad he’s there.”
