It’s the news we were expecting to hear, Disney has now announced that Blizzard Beach will officially reopen on November 6, having been closed since March 19, 2023. It now reads on the official Disney page, “On Sunday, November 6, 2023, Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park will open. At this time, a park reservation is not required to visit a water park; however, reservation requirements are subject to change.”
It has also been confirmed that Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will close at the end of the day November 5 for its winter refurbishment.

It has certainly been disappointing that Disney has once again made the decision this year to only have one of their water parks operating at a time with Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon available during the spring and summer months and Blizzard Beach being open for the fall and winter months.
Whilst this strategy was perhaps understandable post COVID-19 it has been surprising that Disney has continued with this in 2023. From a operating cost point of view it obviously makes sense for Disney to only run one water park at a time but again this damages the Disney brand with loyal guests feeling taken advantage of and short changed.
We predict Disney may well continue to use the same strategy in 2024 but surely will be forced in 2025 to have both water parks open at the same time to compete with the opening of Epic Universe. Whilst nothing has been confirmed on this we remain hopeful that in the future, Disney fans will see both Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach open at the same time.
