What we do know is that the ingredients are derived from marine sources rich in low molecular weight polysaccharides and glycosaminoglycans.
Both polysaccharides and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are large molecules that are composed of a number of sugar molecules bonded together. GAGs are negatively charged and thus tend to attract positively charged sodium and potassium ions. In turn, this causes the GAGs to absorb and hold a large amount of water. A common GAG that you may be familiar with is hyaluronic acid. Overall, the inclusion of low molecular weight polysaccharides and glycosaminoglycans in the SenePlex Complex should help to boost the skin’s hydration.
The SenePlex Complex is also said to be a “natural exfoliating complex”, although we don’t know what ingredients are used to exfoliate the skin. The brand claims that it can activate both epidermal and dermal cells, resulting in improved cell renewal and increased production of hyaluronic acid and collagen. Over time, this should lead to increased skin firmness and density.
Botanical oils A few of the most beneficial natural ingredients in SeneGence products include jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, macadamia seed oil, and avocado oil. All of these oils function as emollients to help keep the skin soft and smooth while simultaneously strengthening the skin’s barrier due to their rich supply of fatty acids.
Parabens One thing to note about SeneGence skin care products is that many of the formulations contain parabens.
Parabens have been linked to reproductive, immunological, neurological and skin irritation problems. Parabens penetrate the skin and hang around in our bodies.
