Why Was Orlando In Jail

A former Disney Channel star remains in custody Tuesday, four days after pleading not guilty to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge in Ohio, The Post can confirm.

Orlando Brown, 35, is facing an aggravated menacing charge following a reported dispute Thursday, according to Lima Municipal Court.

The “That’s So Raven” star has not requested a public defender. He will be placed on electronic house arrest if his $25,000 bond is paid and he provides a veritable home address in Ohio, court officials confirmed to The Post.

Brown is forbidden from possessing a weapon, making contact with the alleged victim and returning to the property where the reported altercation took place.

A representative for Brown’s company, Young Starr Entertainment, did not return The Post’s request for comment.

The former child star was taken into custody Thursday after the Lima Police Department received a call about a fight in progress.

A man named Matthew Sanders told police he had been allowing Brown to live in a home he was renovating for the past two weeks because the actor “is homeless” and he “did not want him to go to a homeless shelter,” according to the police report obtained by The Post.

Sanders is identified in the report as a “blood brother” of Brown, but TMZ reported the two are not actually brothers. The Post was unable to reach Sanders for comment.

Sanders told officers he arrived at the house Thursday morning to check on the renovations and on Brown, who “started yelling at him and was acting in a crazy manner,” according to the police report.

“Matthew said as he got up to the house, Orlando came out. Orlando had a hammer in one hand and a broken-off knife blade in the other hand,” the report stated.

“Matthew said Orlando said he (Matthew) was raping his wife (Orlando’s wife), and he was going to get him for that. Orlando was swinging both of the items at Matthew, but he did not make contact with him. Orlando eventually put the items down.”

Brown’s wife is not identified in the police report, but a woman named Danielle Brown claims to be his wife on social media, where she posts pictures of them. The Post reached out to Danielle Brown for comment. It’s unclear where she was at the time of the incident.

Police, meanwhile, reported finding a knife blade and a hammer on the living room floor.

“It appeared to officers that Orlando suffers from mental disorders and is delusional,” the police report noted.

According to police, Sanders filed domestic violence charges, which were reduced to misdemeanor aggravated menacing at his arraignment Friday. Brown is being held at Allen County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.

The former actor and musician made his big-screen debut in 1995 in the Damon Wayans comedy “Major Payne.” He went on to appear in several popular family sitcoms, including “Family Matters” and “Two of a Kind,” before playing Eddie Thomas in Disney Channel’s “That’s So Raven,” which aired from 2003 to 2007.

Thursday’s incident follows a string of arrests dating back to 2007. In 2018, he was arrested nearly every other month for charges ranging from burglary and drug possession to resisting a public officer and domestic battery.

After a difficult year, in which he revealed a tattoo on his chest of former co-star Raven Symoné, Brown met with Dr. Phil McGraw on an episode that aired in December 2018.

He admitted to struggling with addiction, homelessness and mental health issues. He later revealed he had smoked weed before the appearance and went to a rehab facility after leaving the show.

“I didn’t want to be there [on ‘Dr. Phil’] … I got duped into going there,” Brown said in April on the “No Jumper” podcast. “I was supposed to be doing ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ and they literally duped me.”

He concluded: “But I thank Dr. Phil, man. He’s awesome. At one point, yeah, I dissed him because I felt like he allowed me to get ambushed.”
